nickie knocking out Irongauge makes no difference and you don't read his diary before you go down into the crypts. Sounds like you're right on track so just keep on going! :)

I finished the mission, but will go back and try for more loot. This was a fun mission. One question:There are doors that we couldn't go through, with Garrett making a comment like "I'll go in here later". Is there something I missed that would allow me to enter through these places?

If it's the door to Usher's house, you are supposed to get in there and "do things" in order to gain access to the crypt. Like me though, you managed to open the crypt stairway by way of a bug, which, I believe, is corrected in the new version of the fan mission.
I think there is some loot in there as well.
The red doors only open from the inside, then auto shut after a few seconds.

I guess it's called Usher. It is the double metal doors at the South end of Farthing Street. There is also a single metal door visible from Spenny Way, looking South, which may be part of the same manor. Another door is a wooden one visible from Brock Street, looking South.

Those double doors that let you into the silver colored mansion are pickable. That's not Usher's place. He is further north on Farthing street. There is a gold plaque beside the door identifying his house. It looks out at the fountain at the corner of Brock and Farthing.
Yes, the single metal door on Spenny leads into the same mansion with the double doors. But you can't get in from there. Only out.
That wooden door being shut tells me you haven't performed one of the hidden objectives.
Go south on the Shamblings to the very VERY end, past the metal door accessing the church grounds and past the steps up. Look to the east and go through the wooden door and into the next room. Don't club the guy who soon follows you in. Follow him and he will open that wooden door off Brock Street.
Switching condenser on :
There are I think 4 generators, two of which are already running. Above them, on the walkway, are the switches for each. You need to turn two more switches in order to power all the generators, thus turning on the condenser. Once it's on, the condenser expoldes? creating access from the roof to the condenser room.
But after the explosion, the condenser remains on and painful when you land on it. So turn off ALL the generators and freely hop down into the condenser room.
It's always embarassing when I'm the only one who is totally confused :tsktsk: .
I'm just taffing around. I haven't gotten anywhere or done anything of note, except to follow the intruder (and lift his knife).
I've been in the white mansion, gotten the Mechanist Crypt Key, found out the gal is being held in the crypt, been in the Mechanist Church, gotten the Church Key, found the place where I could drown a couple of ComBots (if I weren't ghosting), been through the sewers, gotten the secret in there, gotten about 1600 loot or so, found the crypt where there's an obvious floor that turns into stairs thingie...
But none of that brings me any closer to satisfying any of the objectives! When I read little bits and pieces of spoiled stuff here, hoping for a hint where to proceed, I see only tantalizing glimpses of what I could be doing if I weren't such a putz.
Can somebody just, you know, point me in the right direction? Some direction? I have no idea what to do first.
Thanks,
Dafydd

Dafydd:
1. Read everything in the white mansion, and add the doodles to your inventory.
2. Visit Usher Littleworts.
3. Use the stuff you get there together with a metal chassis (from the Otis place) in the machine where the two bots are. The product will do the floor/stairs trick.
