Under what conditions you will not buy or even not play Thief 4 at all? - by Lady Rowena

Well, some have said that they will not buy it if Garrett it's not the main character, or if there will be loading zones. Of course I will be sorry if this will happen, but I think that I will buy Thief 4 anyway. :o
For me, there are only two things that will make me decide to not buy and to not play Thief 4 at all. One is if they will make it a third person game only. I never player a third person game and I have no intention to begin now, even if it's Thief.
The other, that no one mentioned until now, is if they will decide make an obligatory activation through Steam or even worse, if there will be a limited number of installations. In that case they will never see my money for sure. :(

Conditions under which I would NOT buy T4:
a.) T4 turns out to be a sequel in all ways to TDS (meaning gameplay, linear restrictions, climbing gloves, no swimming or you'll drown, etc.)
b.) EM replaces Garrett as the Master Thief and last of the Keepers (either early on in the game or he's not included at all) with some female character with big tits (If that's what you want then go play Tomb Raider. :p )
c.) T4 is played in the 3rd person only and is a TDS sequel
d.) T4 takes place in the modern day and is nothing more than an FPS
e.) I also wouldn't waste my money buying T4 if after I've read the reviews of my fellow Taffers here at TTLG and at Eidos forums and the general consensus turns out to be that T4 was nothing but a load of crap due to one or more of my aforementioned conditions. If that happens, then I'll gladly pass.

I pretty much share your position on this, Lady R. I won't by a 3P only game, nor will I deal with any online crap. If I can't by it on disc and hold it in my hands, and install it whenever I want to, forget it.

I wouldn't buy it if there is even a hint of mandatory third-person perspective.
Aside from that, it's a long way off and I'll just wait and see. There are probably many things that would put me off, but it's too early to say.
I do find people saying that they won't buy it if Garrett isn't the protagonist quite strange though. What if there's a new character, incredibly well executed, and amazingly fun to play as? I'd buy that.

I think I'll buy Thief 4 even if there's only a 3rd person. I'm a huge fan of Thief and I'd like to see the story... But I'm not sure I'll enjoy a 3rd person Thief.
But I for sure won't buy Thief 4 if it's modern - ie pistols, cars and not medieval.

If it will be totally bioshocked.
BUT, I will buy 10 copies of it if it will be calendraslegacied or missionxed (i.e. will have 10-15 missions like those FMs).

I don't mind if the protagonist is not Garrett, but I have learned to love the world of thief. They shouldn't place thief 4 in to another world or make it modern.
No modern thief for me.

A female may work but I think there would be a lot of comparing to Garrett.
If it was futuristic I do not think I would want to play or guns either.
As Dia said. :thumb:
The medieval setting is what makes Thief so different it has such an atmosphere about it "Magical and Mystical"?
If it anything like your Missions Lady Rowena then that would be right.
You and others here could build the whole game. :)
