Under what conditions you will not buy or even not play Thief 4 at all? - by Lady Rowena

Apart from the fact it was ionloader.exe that ran the game, the t3main was just the copyright protection software and the menus and briefings.

Conditions which must be satisfied for me to buy:
* Sub-standard price point. Yes, you might think that substandard means crap, but really has not to. 50 bucks for a game is brain damaged. This means that very likely I won't buy the game immediately... this is gaming on budget guys!
* Reasonable hardware requirements. It is years game requirements are not justified to me. They sell those as "being cutting edge" but I really see only the sloppy practices of improper optimization just to minimize costs. It is no more acceptable to me.
Note that those two go hand in hand.
* No DRM shit!
* Decent community support would be a real plus.
Won't buy if at least one of the following is true:
* Franchise abuse. That is, sticking the Thief name to something which clearly isn't Thief.
* Not T1 or T2 enough. That is, sticking the Thief name to something which clearly is a bit too deadly shadow-ish.
* Minus: Romance, EMO. As I wrote in another thread I don't think there's place for romance in Thief. I will tolerate some very subtle messages like the few ones that might have been in 1&2.
* Minus: Sandbox. Bah. Never liked them.
Note that "not open enough" would still be a buy, as I don't require Garret to be in. I am open to change, when change comes with improvement.

e) I'd play it if it was set in the an industrial or future setting, as long as care was given to the story to make it fit within the rest of the Thief series. For example, i would play it if it was called "Thief 4: The Carbon Nanotube Age", if the plot involved the Woodsie Lord planning the destruction of all sentient life while hiding behind an eco-terrorist organization. (I can hear you all groaning now, but let me write it, it would be good!)
Groan. Ok, now write it!;)Quote Posted by Body500
That Benny is in it.
We should really make sure this happens by starting a petition to include him! He has to run a poor family after all!

I need Garrett as the main character.
I am already a chick with big boobs and don't want to play one in a game.
You need to get the guy who voiced Garrett before. And Benny.
I want to hear Garrett's voice in my ear when I'm playing with the headphones on. Nothing else will do.
Also it has to be medieval. Too many stories are already modern day and I won't buy them.. except BioShock, but still it was retro 30s. Thief should stay in the far past and fantasy realm. And the story should be your main concern. Not wasting megabites on mechanics. Look how thin the original games were and they were great. Huge zones and no reload! Don't waste so many megabites on minutia that we can't do anything cool with our first person exploring/sneaking/gameplay. Let the player run free! (and swim free, and rope arrow free, and maybe ride a horse.. freely)

Let's say it this way...
I remember how eagerly awaited Terminator: Salvation. I went to the cinema and watched it. Terminator: Salvation proved out to be a total disappointment. Why? Because Arnold wasn't there.
The same applies for Thi4f. If Garrett is not the Main Character and Russel is not the voice actor, Thi4f will be a disaster.

No computer that can play it. Seriously.
Lack of use of hands/arms/eyes/ears.
If I'm unimpressed with it, and am ashamed it's called Thief.
