Under what conditions you will not buy or even not play Thief 4 at all? - by Lady Rowena

Actually, I play other games. I only said that I don't like 3rd person games. I don't care about how good they are. I only play FPS. :)
Ad of course since I don't have a Playstation or an XBox, I only play computer games.

Conditions under which I would
NOT buy T4:
a.) T4 turns out to be a sequel in
all ways to TDS (meaning gameplay, linear restrictions, climbing gloves, no swimming or you'll drown, etc.)
b.) EM replaces Garrett as the Master Thief and last of the Keepers (either early on in the game or he's not included at all) with some female character with big tits (If that's what you want then go play Tomb Raider. :p )
c.) T4 is played in the 3rd person only and is a TDS sequel
d.) T4 takes place in the modern day and is nothing more than an FPS
e.) I also wouldn't waste my money buying T4 if after I've read the reviews of my fellow Taffers here at TTLG and at Eidos forums and the general consensus turns out to be that T4 was nothing but a load of crap due to one or more of my aforementioned conditions. If that happens, then I'll gladly pass.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with this. T: DS had a nice atmosphere but stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid gameplay mechanics.
Otherwise, I'll definitely give it a chance.

Instead of changing the amount of opponents and objectives, difficulty levels only determine your health and their health.
Normal=Your health 100, enemy health 25
Hard=Your health 75, enemy health 50
Expert=Your health 50 emeny health 75
This is what has happened to most modern games. They just make the enemies tougher instead of making them more numerous. That's lazy. And please, special objectives for higher difficulty levels, a'ight?

There are only a few basic things that would prevent me from buying Thief 4:
If it cannot be played on a computer. If it is x-box or playstation or whatever only they can keep it 'cause I'm not having any of it :p
If it requires some kind of online signup thing, or if it is required to be run online...although why on Earth they would do something like that is beyond me.
If it doesn't come out after all :(
You said it.

I couldn't agree with you more 242. TDM all the way! Its beautiful.
But it's not... (Oh I give up)
Internet activation. Let me buy a game, then leave me alone. Other than that, I'll buy it no matter what. Whether or not I'll
like it is a different matter. If they turn it into yet another mass-appeal piece of shit targeted toward fifteen-year olds that can't get laid, and those creepy carny-like people who smell faintly of cabbage and always have something they wanna show you in the back of their '78 Buick, then I'll certainly dump it into the trash afterwards and remember the day I lost all that money with a chuckle.

Now, I know this is sort of like spreading butter on a frying rock, but about the "wont buy it if there is anything modern like cars"...
Weren't there carriages in the Dark Ages? I mean, c' mon, how do you guys think the peasants travel? Everyone was higher class than that. The Dark Ages in the thief universe was probably advanced enough that their carriages ran on steam... not like a car, because it relied on deep grooves in the road...
Kapnsh (?)? Agreed?

You don't like our work?
I also won't buy the game if there is no editor.

I pretty much share your position on this, Lady R. I won't by a 3P only game, nor will I deal with any online crap. If I can't by it on disc and hold it in my hands, and install it whenever I want to, forget it.
This pretty much covers it for me as well. I'll also add in that what has been said about "modern" thief is true for me as well.
Most of thief's charm comes from its setting - there are plenty of modern FPS style games out there - let this one continue to stand out in its genre.
And upon playing Thief: DS again for the first time in a LONG time (years) I had forgotten how horribly broken the blackjack mechanic is when compared to the satisfying 'thud' and slow body drop version of 1 and 2 - hell, half the time the blackjack didnt even hit when I swung it at close range. I shouldnt be failing my damn arms wildly trying to blackjack someone when a decade old game got it right every single time. DS was just so damn clunky that its ridiculous.
So if they screw up the blackjack mechanic - my one and only true defense against the hordes of guards and factions of human enemies - I'll stick to thief 2.
