Under what conditions you will not buy or even not play Thief 4 at all? - by Lady Rowena

If it contains save zones, the game saves where it thinks you should save but wont let you save when you want to.
There's a percentage of loot to get, which you would never know how much loot is in a building, area, level anyway, just so stupid.
I say chaps I be Garrett, like, taff, like, so's I be out to like grab loot from chavs like.
The thief can't jump more than 3 inches.

Things that would count as positive for me:
a) There is some thoughtful, mature effort given to the plot
b) The gameplay focusses on stealth, intrusion, and intrigue.
c) The story line pays homage to the balance of forces that are pertinent to the thief universe.
d) They focus time on the stealth and intrusion gameplay so that both planing and improvisation are rewarded.
e) I'd play it if it was set in the an industrial or future setting, as long as care was given to the story to make it fit within the rest of the Thief series. For example, i would play it if it was called "Thief 4: The Carbon Nanotube Age", if the plot involved the Woodsie Lord planning the destruction of all sentient life while hiding behind an eco-terrorist organization. (I can hear you all groaning now, but let me write it, it would be good!)
f) They spent as much time on thinking about the use of sound and sound direction as was done in Thief 1 and 2
Things that would count as negatives for me:
a) Tons of development time wasted on animating super kick ass assassination moves that I would never use because I don't want to kill anyone.
b) Its a super kickass fighting game with action missiles.
c) A female protagonist with a waist to hip ratio of 0.2, or a male protagonist with a steroid injection habit.
d) Item micro transactions, where you can spend 5 dollars online to buy a bow upgrade
e) The voice acting is recorded line by line with no context, so that it is obviously not conversational and the word emphases are all misplaced.

Seconded.

I am not changing my standards in the way I decide to buy and play a game. It's simple really. If the composite of reviews is overall good, then I will buy. But even if the reviews are overall good (such as TDS in fact were) the game still might come with much disappointment.

I cant think of any conditions under which I would not play thief 4. But some of these ideas... modern day setting? third person only? Is there any kind of source for these worries or are you just overreacting to whacky suggestions?

Nothing to laugh about here, unfortunately.

Laughing eases tension, ya know. And yes; there's always the unfortunate reality that T4 will fall by the wayside before it's released. I prefer not to think about that possibility. It makes my tummy hurt.

I will not buy Thief 4 only if someone give me it as a gift.
