Yeah, I posted that in July of last year and Beth took its summary dump on the idea of Prey 2 in October. We're aware.
Coming back to UWA, the Kickstarter seems to be going well, so I'll get it when it's released; right now, I'm going to be throwing some bones at Homeworld Remastered instead.

I'll only be happy once that goal get's met. Still a bit to go.

Interesting kicker curve. 4 out of 5 top donation rewards already taken. Over half their money is coming from people pledging $100 or more.
It's more top-heavy than the recent Shadowrun kickstarter, but not by as much as I initially thought. Hmm. What's the motivation? Which rewards are people most interested in, that they're willing to shell out so much more than the base price in such large numbers? Gotta admit, having the guards bow to you in-game sounds like a hoot.

I think a lot of the higher end pledgers are doing so more for support of the project and the company than for the rewards. There's kind of a movement going on over on their message boards to "up your pledge," it's almost like a competition.

If I could afford it, I'd pay for the tier that gets access to prototypes.
Pyrian on 25/2/2015 at 23:29
Interesting. I don't particularly care for playing prototypes, or alphas, or betas. Heck, I like to wait for a few good patches after release. For my own little project, the notion that I might be able to let people playtest my crappy pre-alpha and pay me through the nose for the privilege is alluring yet hilarious.

Well, I'm the weirdo who also watches people analyse games in-depth inch by inch for hours and reads post-mortems. For me, it's less about buying a prototype and more about gaining insight into the design process, giving feedback and helping out financially.
That said, there are very few games and even less developers I'd do it for.
