Hey folks. Been on TTLG for a while (since the original Thief came out, in fact), first posting and then ghosting, so please don't flame me as a noob.
Anywho, I have 2 questions so far about this fantastic game:
1) Does anyone know what purpose unicorns serve? I ran into one in the forest, and it seemed to be guarded/hunted by a group of Minotaurs. Then all of them (unicorn included) attacked me an killed my horse, and I ran away. BUT, while I was fighting, I noticed the horseshoe icon appear over the unicorn, indicating that, were it tamed, I would be able to ride it. Any thoughts or similar experiences?
2) Has anyone else started to quest to investigate the stolen painting in Chorral Castle? I've already found the "unusual painting" the hidden brushes, but I don't know what evidence I need to look for next.
Thanks for any help. Also, if you're a stealth player, JOIN THE DARK BROTHERHOOD. The contracts are immensely satisfying and creative, and reminded me strongly, for various reasons, of Thief. Which is never a bad thing :)

I haven't come across the unicorn myself yet, but supposedly if you can stealth up to it you can ride it. It will stay with you and act like a "bought" horse from that point on, i.e. it won't disappear on you like stolen horses do.

I found some stupid ass unicorn wandering around some grove somewhere.
The first time I 'saved' the unicorn by trying to kill the minotaurs surrounding it. After it started attacking me, I reloaded, killed the minotaurs without alerting it, mounted it, took a screenshot, and left it on its own.
Now whenever I port somewhere, the unicorn is there, sometimes it attacks me, sometimes it attacks quest NPCs.... It's not so bad.

The Unicorn is actually part of a quest. A very good, very rewarded Daedric Shrine quest. I won't tell you the reward or which shrine unless you really want to know, though.
Haven't done that quest at Chorral, so I can't help you there.

I had better not have botched the quest by scooping that unicorn.
On the subject of daedric shrines, I got a quest from this one blind statue chick, and I got a skeleton key out of it. So far it seems to be an unbreakable pick. Frankly that's pretty retarded as it takes the whole fun of the lockpicking minigame out, but whatever, it was too easy anyway.
