Saw over on halflife2.net that someone's made an actual (
http://www.portalprelude.com/) Portal prequel. This isn't some tawdry banged-together map pack nor is it the irritating-for-many-reasons Flash Version addon; no, someone actually went out of his way to make an honest-to-Thergothon prequel, complete with 400 (!) lines of new voice acting, a soundtrack largely composed just for the mod (as well as a few songs from various commercial artists), et cetera.
I haven't actually played it- thanks to the (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_Hurricane_Ike_in_inland_North_America#Ohio) Tina Turner Crisis getting a new PSU for my video card's been kind of delayed- though apparently the stock HL2 fellas have been reskinned and the screenshots of them in their 1984 jumpsuits are out of date, which is good, at least.
I'm not a Portal fan and in fact while I enjoyed my first playthrough last year I was bored by it this year, but I'm going to give this a try as soon as my video card woes are taken care of.

(nor Torment, nor Fallout 2)
So what are the news about the content? Is it just as big a joke as the original, or will we get some brain-bending exercise along with annoying memes this time?

The best way to answer that question would be to go play it; it's a mod, so you've really got nothing to lose except for the time you spend on it.
There's a (
http://www.vimeo.com/1739740) brief trailer if you lot would like to see what it looks like.

Portal was, if I recall, six gigabytes big. That's a lot of downloading just to try a demo.

True, mostly. Portal itself isn't that big; most of that 6 GB is shared Source files for Valve games, which you don't need to re-download if you've already got a game like HL2 sitting on your hard drive.
There'll be opinions on it once people get to play it; I suppose you can wait till people start posting their views. But I don't know if you really want to trust public opinion about anything, when your own is slightly more different than most.

No, I won't be playing Clear Sky or Witcher SE right away (fuck Crysis.) I have to wait for a new PSU to come in, which requires some money I don't have yet. I've been playing Thief in the meantime- sometimes going back to an older card has its advantages as I've had no trouble with the Dark Engine on a 6200TC.
As for Fallout 2 and PS:T you faggots are never going to let me hear the end of that, are you? Oh, wait, the only one who ever brings it up is Koki, nevermind.
