I hope it can rejuvenate the Unreal series. I find the game generally lacking in good maps and it seems regular CTF has been practically abandoned in favor of vehicle CTF.

For a second, i thought someone was trying to build a new, simplier system to write roman figures...like GTA IIII or something. Burns your eyes, eh?;)

Nice, they haven't really done anything like that for UT before except the GOTY edition. I just got UT3 last week as well and this will probably add to the hours of fun I'm already having with it.

This is of course assuming Midway doesn't finish imploding before they finish it.

Cool, thanks for the linkage! I've been a UT fan since the first one, and I'm liking III quite well, so this is good news for me. But yeah, might wanna correct that thread title there.

I don't really think Midway going tits-up would kill Epic's UT plans. Delay, maybe.

*Eats the extra I on your thread title*

haha, sorry. yes, it was an anglicized roman numeral system. and it is actually the 4th if you consider ut2004 the 3rd. :joke:
I too got UT3 last week. really the only major thing I believe lacking in it is the maps. I don't see what Epic could lose by including 5 classic maps in the expansion, like Curse, Lava Giant, Phobos, Liandri, Codex.
not original but at least people would play them.
as for the graphics in UT3, I find them quite variable...
if anybody wants to frag some time, hit me up. I was a really hardcore UT99 player. My clan got sponsored and I quit about a week before the clan got trips to Korea.

How is UT3 anyway? Is it a lot like 200X? I fucking hated what they did to it.
sh0ck3r on 29/11/2008 at 08:36
Me too. I was a diehard UT99 player and then was furious that with UT2003 Epic tried to conform the game to the "pure" Quake 3 style. I think Epic has reinstated some of the UT99 features removed from UT2003 and IMO the style and dynamic of the game are fine. The map design is quite lacking though compared to UT99. I think the expansion does in fact have the potential to "re-energize the base." But if I were you I would wait till that comes out to see if you want to check out UT3.

I played the PC demo of UT 3, while it felt a little more like UT 99, it still felt way too much like UT 2k4, and like I was playing it on console (which I'm guessing they've fixed with patches... or I would hope so).
I wish they would go back to darker, closed corridor maps. I loved the maps in UT.
