This has probably been hashed over way before, but....
So I stumbled across the list of (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51466&highlight=Now+the+bow+will+shoot+moss+arrows) Garrett's comments here, when I noticed-- a lot of the comments listed just aren't to be found in Thief 1. Were they removed from the mission (but the assets stayed in the CRF?)
For example:
GAR012 Now the bow will shoot fire arrows
GAR013 Now the bow will shoot water arrows
GAR014 Now the bow will shoot moss arrows
GAR015 Now the bow will shoot gas arrowsThe gist I got from those, for example, was that maybe they were planning on doing the training differently? Regardless, most of the listed voiceovers don't show up in any version of T1 i've played. Does anyone have any info on this?

I imagine the original plan was to have the crystals be screwed onto normal arrows, rather than being seperate arrows altogether. This would likely have been training to change the arrow type. I imagine gameplay-wise it made it too confusing to have to keep track of arrow "shafts" as well as crystals. btw, I'm just speculating here, I have no evidence!

Or perhaps originally the little icon in the bottom right hand corner only said "Bow" instead of the type of arrow you were using.
Again, just speculation!

My theory is that those particular lines (and there are others like it) were from an earlier concept to have Garrett explain more things to a new player to introduce them to game mechanics.

There are a lot of things in the CRF files that never made it into the games, both sounds and graphics. Unpack them with WinZip or WinRar and go exploring.

My guess is that there were different bow upgrades available.
