One post every couple months to let people know the project is still alive (and stir up support for the author) is not going to hinder building progress more than a minute or two.
That's a solid point, but if so, then why don't more authors do it? I'd say off the top of my head, the majority don't.

But there's the risk of giving away too much, too, and ruining the surprise for the community.
I think this is part of the answer. The other part is simply, some people don't like to talk about themselves or their projects. They see it as being egotistical or narcissistic, whether it's true or not.
Also, I think there have been authors over the years who give updates, talk about their level, even write journals on their mission's design, and then for whatever reason, the mission never gets released and they feel stupid. Maybe they even think talking about it will jinx it.

Its funny - one subforum is talking about how dead TTLG is and in this one we encourage less posting about missions and projects.
I don't understand this place sometimes.
The Phantom on 6/3/2010 at 11:33
It would be nice if authors could post an update once in a while, to share whatever they want to share :)
With the forums back to the old location (thanks David!) the updates will resume the coming days.
sNeaksieGarrett on 6/3/2010 at 16:09
I would, except for the fact that there's not really anything to report... Well, other than the fact that I haven't worked on my projects in a long time. School is getting in the way. However, spring break is coming up, so I will have some quality time with dromed then.
I've sort of hit a snag with haunt stadium deluxe, because I want to implement something but it isn't easy.
edit:
Quote:
FM in development: Haun Stadium Deluxe (T1/TG)
Phantom, if you could please, change this to
Haunt Stadium Deluxe (T2)
Thanks! (sorry if I didn't make it clear, HSD is for Thief 2.)

That's exactly how I feel about that matter. I can't help but think: and what if nobody cares? :o
On the other hand I don't want to give away too much, of course. ;) That's why I rarely post about my upcoming project, and if I do it means that I am at a good point of the whole work. (or that I need some encouragement....)

Fair enough.
The mission is almost done. I have already set beta 3 to the testers, there would be another beta before the mission is released, in early May probably.
