Thanks both of you for the links - two of the three were new to me.

Thank you Dario for that link. What an amazing site!!! :thumb:
All 3 texture links were posted earlier in the (

Top notch as usual Tippy! :thumb:
For my next FM (after the one I'm working on is done!) I'm going to attempt to recreate a building a little ways off from my house. It was a restaurant up until last summer but it's closed and scheduled for demolition. It's next to a lake and I always thought it would make a good setting for a small mission.
Wide shot of main structure....

End thread hijack...

That's cool Sly! Since it's abandoned I think you should break in and draw up the floor plans or take texture pic's - you know take Dromed'ing/Thief to the next level. I live really close to an abandoned brick factory that's just begging for a visit!
The Fire Eater on 13/2/2007 at 00:00
I can see why you like the one bldg. to the right...it already looks like one of our bldgs in Thief..bricks, wooden sides, and a door that has the color/texture of some of our doors in our missions already... :D Not only that but an open door just waiting for Garrett to enter! LOL

Just a few pic's of my next FM to see what people think. I'm probably over doing it with the window effects - but damn it, I think it's cool :)
I though I was looking at halflife 2 shots there for a while
well done ST, youve done it again.

Unfortunately it's not abandoned, but I live near a (
http://www.bop.gov/locations/institutions/lex/index.jsp) U.S. Federal Prison Hospital, and it looks like it was built in the late 1800's or early 1900's. I would dearly love to see the architecture up close, and see what it's like inside at night (if it were empty). The architecture is amazing! I may have to drive up to the gate someday and ask the guard if I can just snap some photos to post for you guys and serve as a base for a mission someday maybe. The photo in the link above is tiny and doesn't do it justice.

And if the guard says no, you know what to do... :ebil: I'm pretty sure a powerful camera flash to the face will do the trick if you run out of aces up your sleeve.

That looks seriously good. Do I detect a slight HL2 vibe going on?
Spitter: I haven't played HL2 so hopefully I'm not copying it too much!
The reason they say that is because HL2 has a similarly arranged (
http://img.hl2spain.com/img/articulos/guia_hl2/nova_02.jpg) [prison] with equally well-chosen photo-sourced textures that lend to the same kind of realistic look. It looks very similar - yours is just darker and bluer, like a night-time version. (that's not the greatest screenshot for showing similarities, but you get the idea)

I should also add that much of the inspiration for this mission came from:
(
www.opacity.us)
That guy is an amazing photographer!
Oh, that guy! I've seen that before :D Yeah, that's a great source for inspiration. Almost as good as going to those places yourself, just without the airfare, driving, and having to walk into those place alone :erm:
Edit: Hey Sluggs! Long time no forum for me :)

Did anyone ever take you up on the offer to complete
Faceless?
Dario on 13/2/2007 at 03:37
Sluggs almost did, but no, it's still there. :(
(wait, let's try not to crap on Slipstick's thread)
