Too late. Watch Dogs has the Assassin's Creed mechanic where you have to assault a tower to unlock a new part of the map (and the accessibility of any new missions there).
It's a Diablo-like in the vein of Borderlands or Dead Island, except with bog-standard 3rd person cover shooting. Hardly anything to get excited about there.
Also I'll just laugh if you mention the "OMG HE USED A CAR DOOR AS COVER" meme (even the starter ship from Star Citizen puts to shame any other claims of X or Y game having a high attention to detail) or the recent Snowdrop engine tech demo (WOW, look at all those engine features that Crytek and Epic touted several years ago!!!!111)
First one: That's not too much of an objection for me. Tower/Base assaults like that are usually my favorite activity in games like that....especially if they're designed as sneaking puzzles that you have to solve.
Second one: Agreed with every point there. It's almost as bad as how they were touting fish AI as a revolutionary feature in COD(when it existed back in 1996).

Well I wasn't about to defend my statement. I could care less about all the fluff. I want to play it because it looks like an interesting Tom Clancy game. and I am a big fan of Tom Clancy.

I'm most looking forward to Paradox's East vs West. Obscure Cold War politics sim is right up my alley.

How come all these PC gamers (well, I dunno actually) are looking forward to this silly spectacle fighter all of a sudden?

Well, I don't know about the others, but for me it's because it's Metal Gear. I might be a PC person, but I like that franchise, even though I only played MGS1-2-3 (I got a PS2 just to play Snake Eater / Subsistence, so there's that). Watched LP's of the rest. MGR's gameplay didn't sound too appealing, but I watched some of it on youtube, and it looked better that I expected. In fact, the silly spectacle part was the best, since it felt that there isn't as much contrast between the story/cutscenes and the gameplay, like in other MG games. Here, everything is over the top. :) I'll see soon if I'm right or wrong, since I took the risk of pre-ordering.

From the existing lists, I'm looking forward to Dark Souls 2, Thief 4, Transistor, Hyper Light Drifter and Witcher 3
Missing above:
Super Time Force (though I need to wait for the PC version)
Age of Wonders 3. I'm actually playing Shadow Magic right now :)

Why wouldn't a gamer look forward to a game in a genre (s)he likes for his/her preferred platform?

It had better be good since paramount seems to be happy with raping his corpse with that disgraceful movie they're releasing.
Jesus, stop pretending that Clancy's books were anything more than pulpy airport novels. Ludicrously convoluted political conspiracies where CIA analysts interact with tacticool heroes. All the silly tropes that you expect from typical Clancy fiction seem to be there in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, going by what I've seen in the trailers.

It is an imprecise question, it's true. There was a lot of people on RPS looking forward to it and other people who I wouldn't normally associate with the genre. I can't stand them obviously but I have never noticed this much fuss for one among people I presume are planning to play it on PC. I mean Devil May Cry the reboot didn't make much fuss that I could discern. Ports of the other ones don't have a huge following, perhaps because they're ports. Traditionally people don't even like playing them on PC, but I guess controllers are much more common now too.
It still struck me as a sudden surge in interest for a genre PC gamers haven't cared this much about before. Maybe I'm wrong and I haven't noticed the steady growth. And maybe the brand name/world/series recognition has a part to play like Malleus was saying.
