Can we just move on? Lots of good gaming to be had in 2014.

Debatable. The only thing that I'm sure will be good at this point is Dark souls 2......the industry keeps getting more terrible every year, and for me the only things I loved in 2013 were some stand alone DLCs and short-length indie games.

$60 AAA titles are getting worse and worse, no doubt (aside from the occasional Bethesda release), but all the new independent stuff popping gives me hope. It's a good time to a be a PC gamer.

Debatable.
Not really, but okay.

Judging from his description, it's probably coming from someone who has actually read Tom Clancy.
Doubtful. Tom Clancy's books are fairly well-known for being exactly what he describes. Not to mention, Evabot is from New Zealand, so he has little incentive to read a (percieved) gung-ho AMERICA!!! author like Clancy.

I think we're in a best of times, worst of times sea change situation. It's true that AAA are generally getting worse, but it's hard to deny that 2012-13 was a solid year for games both high budget and low. Maybe it's because I recently bought a PS3 to put alongside my computer, but I've played more games this year than I have in a good long while, and it's only gonna get better once the big Kickstarter successes start rolling in.
Oh, and Dark Souls 2. Though I'm almost afraid it's gonna end up being a slight letdown due to our overblown expectations for it.
And on the equal opposite side of that, Thief 4 will end up being the game of the century, cuz even the most optimistic among us are only expecting it to be merely alright.

I was just going to post this, not noticing it had been done already in the post I was referencing.
Does look rather spiff, especially considering I don't like isometric perspective very much.
With this, Maia and Routine coming along "Old Futurism" is quite the thing.

I'm expecting good things from (
http://pulsarthegame.com/) Pulsar: Lost Colony. Especially if we can get some TTLG co-op on the go, I imagine a discussion thread about it might yield some gold.

Don't forget SOMA. I'm really in love with the 80s sci-fi thing going on lately.
