Ricebug's walkthrough says it's on top of an armoire. That should be some kind of wardrobe.

That is correct.
I'm not sure how much trouble people have with finding the flute.
It certainly could be one of those mission necessary things that is simply in a blindspot, and people could run around the house forever, not thinking to look there, even though it is hanging over the edge, and certainly visible from normal standing height.
I could potentially hint at it an extra time in a readable note or something.
What do you think RADOGOAL?
Was it just in a sort of silly spot? Perhaps it needs an extra mention somewhere, about "hiding it out of reach somewhere" from would-be thieves or something...?
