MOTHER MERCY'S MIXED DRINK
Gather these to test your mettle,
Each and every in the kettle
You must place them, let them settle. PUT THE FOLLOWING AND
Next one bottle, with a stopper, PUT AN EMPTY POTION BOTTLE
You must add within the copper. INTO THE KETTLE
I
Hickory, ash, alder and oak,
I never cough despite the smoke. SOMETHING IS IN A SMOKY PLACE
I did no crime yet I was hung, IS HANGING IN THERE
Inhaled my last without a lung. DOESN'T HAVE A LUNG, I.E. HAS GILLS
When quick I'm wet, when still I'm dry, WAS WET WHEN ALIVE, IS DRY WHEN DEAD, I.E. A FISH
I shed no tears from either eye. FISH DON'T HAVE TEAR DUCTS
Outright Spoiler: LOOK FOR A SMOKED FISH IN THE SMOKEHOUSE
II
I keep my heart inside my head; CABBAGES AND LETTUCES HAVE "HEADS' AND THE CORE IS CALLED THE "HEART"
And on one leg I stand in bed; PLANTED IN A GARDEN BED
I can be white or green or red. CABBAGES COME IN A VARIETY OF COLORS
When packed in barrels, sailors said, CARRIED ABOARD SHIPS, OFTEN AS SAUERKRAUT
I closed the wounds that never bled TO PREVENT SCURVY (SYMPTOM: OPENING OF OLD WOUNDS WITHOUT BLEEDING
And packed their teeth back in their head. AND LOSS OF TEETH)
Outright Spoiler: CABBAGE
III
Thrust in the dark, you twist my tongue; IT HAS A TONGUE INSIDE IT, AND WHEN SOMETHING GETS PUT INTO IT, THAT TONGUE TWISTS
Heave from behind, then quick, I'm sprung, TURN HARD AND IT GETS SPRUNG
Soft my groaning, quiet pleasure, IT MAY MAKE A NOISE, GROAN WHEN SPRUNG
Midnight ward of Lady Treasure. IT PROTECTS TREASURE
Withdrawn, your soft dangling tether
Holds your part, tied up with leather. THE KEY THAT GETS PUT INTO IT TETHERED TO YOUR BELT
Outright Spoiler: GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER! IT'S A LOCK
The wand is waived, the spell is cast, A KEEPER WAND NEEDS TO BE WAVED
Within the vial, liquids fast
And hidden, now, are seen through glass. TO MAKE A POTION
Drink down to help avoid a fight:
This potion shields you from all sight
And speeds you on as fast as light. WHICH IS A COMBO SPEED AND INVISIBILITY POTION
PS The loot list is done. Just working on assembling all the hints together and cleaning them up. I should post a zip with them both by the end of this coming weekend.

Thanks! There was an error in Russian translation: "Don't forget to add some copper" instead of "You must add within the copper". That's why I didn't think that copper lock could be the answer.
LarryG on 26/1/2012 at 10:28
copper = kettle => the material is used to refer to the object.
Can you provide a corrected Russian translation?

I posted the message on Dark Fate forum. Translators will probably read it.
I can't see any problems to fix the error. Just there were too many texts, you know...

I finally have had a minute to look into this.
And I finally had some time to try out the replacement sounds. Yes, that solves the problem I had - consider it fixed.
If I use the rattle with the
original sound files present, I don't hear any sound, but the next time I enter an in-game menu or switch to the objectives screen, I find myself back on Windows desktop. After replacing the original sounds with the ones you provided, the rattle can be heard when shaken, and there are no crashes when going to the in-game menus.
Quote:
To start, rattle1 and rattle2 have nothing directly to do with the baby being soothed. They are the sounds that are made when the rattle is shaken.
That's right, and of course I had those crashes whenever I used the rattle, regardless of whether the baby was anywhere near or not. I just did not want to post an open spoiler, as you requested earlier on in this thread, so I did not describe it in too much detail. And the other people having this issue probably never recognized that the rattle was the problem (so to speak), not the baby itself.
Quote:
And both are used in the game, but alternately so that the rattle sound seems more natural.
I only hear rattle2.wav, rattle1.wav is never played (at least on easiest difficulty level). I replaced them with other sound files (e.g., a Tarzan scream:ebil:), and believe me... I would have recognized it when "my" rattle1.wav had been played.:cheeky: Apparently, alternating the sound somehow doesn't work on my system.
On the other hand, it's really not important. Just keep it in mind if you're planning to use the alternating sounds technique in any future mission.
I have played the mission a bit with these new sound files and noticed nothing uncommon, so apparently, the new files are okay now.

Great. I'll update the zip.

Odd. I've tested it quite a bit on my machine, and it randomly picks one or the other. Oh well.

Just started playing this and I must say, do those poor keepers all have tuberculosis or what? :laff:
Oh man, I'm terrible at logic puzzles but somehow I'm hooked and can't stop playing! We'll see how far I get before I really get stuck. .
P.S. I'm making it my personal objective to steal as many toilet tissue papers as possible. :p

I guess we all need hobbies. :laff:
TP can actually be used as a poorman's carpet to quiet some of the hard floors, you just need a lot of it to scatter about and the patience of a saint to actually do so. Personally, I find it goes faster just to creep or walk slowly ... ;)

I've found the Special collections storage safe in the attic, but I can't get into it. The glyph lock appears when I get close enough but I don't know the right combination of glyphs. I don't recall ever finding anything like that in the readables. I mean, I have a translation of what each glyph means, but that's it.
Also, What do you use the spanner for? I thought it was for the Armillory Sphere, but it doesn't seem like I can use either item on each other.
