It was the invisible thieves (used as targets for the Hammer swordsmen and archers in the practice range). They had a type of positioning that AIs shouldn't, which I guess NewDark is less tolerant of. Fixing that positioning, though, broke the attack sequences. I was able to get the swordsmen working again, but the archers never manage to start firing arrows.
I've uploaded a version that fixes the thieves and a variety of other problems: (
http://www.mediafire.com/?2vssmjob3viu5zo) dark_lord_fixed.zip (328KB, MediaFire). There's more that ought to be fixed, but that should work for you in NewDark (tested with 1.21).
Thanks for doing this! I shall have a look this evening when I get home from work.

Well, unfortunately for me it didn't work on my install. As soon as I clicked "Skip Training", I hear the clink of a moneybag being lifted, the screen goes black, the hard drive churns for a few seconds, then I get "Thief 2 The Metal Age has stopped working."
I have the GOG version of the game installed. I'll try installing the original and then applying NewDark and see if that works.

Yup. It was the GOG version. Don't know what the difference is. I installed from the original CD's and applied the NewDark files. Then it launched the mission just fine. Thanks!
One question. The archers are looking up. Is that where the invisible thieves are?

Yes, they're hovering directly in front of the bullseyes. In NewDark, AIs' heads always face their targets, which is most noticeable when they want to attack but (think they) can't. The result can be quite funny, (

kdau's (
http://www.mediafire.com/?2vssmjob3viu5zo) dark_lord_fixed.zip (328KB, MediaFire) enabled me to play Dark Lord without having to install DromEd. As others have written, it is a demo mission. The author built a basic Hammerite monastery with a chapel, prison cells, a library, a kitchen, a foundry, sleeping quarters, and a training area. All Hammerites don't view you as an enemy. You can freely explore the rooms unless they catch you picking a lock or attacking one of their own. The foundry actually works and you can produce an infinite amount of hammers if you keep repeating the process. There are two conversations between AI: Hammerites discussing who will replace the priest and the bear pit conversation from Lord Bafford's Manor. Both work but are set up to loop forever. I also noticed the compass in your inventory was replaced with a working custom version. To my knowledge, this is the first Thief fan mission with a custom compass. Mission objectives are not set, so after 5-10 minutes of exploration you have to manually end the mission. I got
300 in loot.

(
https://github.com/tolsen64/TFMM-fmsel) Thief Fan Mission Manager allows you to play Dromed-only missions. When loading one of these missions, it generates the files required to make it playable.
