That was one of the games I had in mind, actually.

Still trekking. I'm right about to bounce through 12 secure servers to the Social Security Administration- three missions at once. If I pull this off, I'll make about 20k- not bad at all. I'm really interested in getting further in the game, since I'm having fun and I haven't even touched the plot yet.

Keep in mind that the main game plot will progress with or without you taking part in it. It wont wait around for you to get involved.
Koki on 9/10/2008 at 06:57
Actually it will, if I remember correctly you need to just accept the first mission.

I tried to raid International Criminal Database yesterday. I thought Social security database had good security but this was something of quite different level. I established a bounce chain of 15 servers. But soon as I launched the codebreaker, the track detector started beeping like crazy! Quick jack-out.
Criminal database shall wait for later when I get better tools. Beware not to earn any criminal records early in the game because you won't get rid of them for a quite long time.
And something else that seems to contradict our earlier theory about Necromancer rating : I was stealing/erasing files a lot and my necro status changed to Agressive. But as soon as I finished a profitable job of editing data in Social Security database later, it changed back to Neutral. I'm confused about how it works.

Neuromancer rating is a good/evil scale
you went up to Aggressive, then back down to neutral.
Koki on 9/10/2008 at 11:45
I am pretty sure it's supposed to represent how other hackers view you.
Rogue Keeper on 9/10/2008 at 12:03
Agressive... maybe because I wipe out all corporate harddrives clean instead of carefully picking up what files the customer wanted to delete. I could be nickamed "Formatter".
:joke:

Make sure to use log deleter v4 or the Criminal Database is going to find you.
And your Neuromancer rating is dependent upon whether you target people or corporations. Aggressive is a good thing.

I see... too late. The first Bank job has turned out bad for me as they found me about two days day later, Uplink Corp. threw me out. Time for a new character.
And I didn't know why, because I erased all logs at InterNIC, but apparently they have recovered them - now I know the trick is hidden in versions of log deleter.

Right, I have read in the (
http://www.modlink.net/files/guides/doc.zip) Ultimate Uplnik Guide that if you also track other hackers, it will lower my Neuromancer rating in the hacker community.
And I think I should read that guide carefully before I start a new character if I don't want to get caught like last time.
