I have done this before but have completely forgotton how it's done...I even had a step by step idiot proof guide but my house seems to have eaten it!.
I have some jpegs which I need to convert to make some very dodgy postcard sized pictures....can some long suffering kindly soul point me in the right direction please.
Thanking you kindly.:D

Maybe it's just me but I'm not sure what you're asking. What do you mean by "convert"? If you're talking about needing to convert from the JPEG file format to some other, just open it in an image editing program and save it as a PNG file.

Um yup, I downloaded a bunch of pictures that I need to put into my thief mission, I guess it has to be converted to a pcx so that I can use it as a picture that I can pick up in game and add to my inventory as it will be part of an objective where the player needs to find a set of them like the tarrow cards in Rose Cottage.:D
Probably needs to be converted to a tga.

With NewDark you aren't limited to GIF, PCX and TGA. Most people convert to PNG or DDS nowadays.

I have resized said jpeg to 38x60 saved as a png but get the not a power of 2 warning...what does this mean??...remember you are dealing with a sixty something year old fart whose employment resume headed with "shooting people"...so not a lot going on up top.:cheeky:

Check this list for the acceptable sizes: (
http://www.tsm-resources.com/alists/pow2.html)
38x60 cannot be used as a texture! But as you can see in the list, 32x64 would be okay.
Are the postcards objects or are you just using a texture? Because textures NEED these dimensions. Objects don't necessarily.

to answer the original question, the easiest thing to do would be to load the jpg into some image manipulation program (I'm using gimp), and export it as png.
and yes, never-ever try to use non-power of two textures, either resize the picture or crop it differently (as mentioned 32x64 would be ok).

These postcards are going to be frobbable objects that will be used as part of a quest...I need them to be about the size of the tarot cards that were very cleverly used in rose cottage.:D
I have downloaded gimp and reimaged the jpegs to 256x256 but when skinning them onto a card all I get is jorge.:erm:
Yandros on 25/2/2017 at 13:42
How are you going about putting them in game?
Ravenhook on 25/2/2017 at 15:07
Remember in Rose Cottage how the tarrot cards were hidden here and there and when you found them you used them on a collecting board? well it will be similar to that, gathering up a certain number of cards to use in a blackmail attempt that goes horribly wrong.
