Hurray! (Except for the pig.)
Vanquish, and Bayonetta, would be absolutely splendid.

Gotta admit I've never even heard of this one.
Looks cool tho.

Great news! I find PS3 to be an utterly wretched console. The less games that I have to buy for it, the better.

At least half of that is you being sore over the last one dying on you and taking the disc with it, though. And sure, the update process is horrifyingly slow, the UI could be smoother, and the web browser is terrible.
But the games -- ah, the games.

I had completely forgotten about my first PS3 dying until your brought it up. I have a burning hatred for the PS3 is because the OS is a smouldering pile of shit when it comes to almost everything internet related.
Eg download a digitally distributed game. Wanna play it immediately? Nope, gotta install it first. So the game is installed now, but wait there's patches available? Gotta install those first before you can play.
Apps for PS3 are no different to games. Patches aren't cumulative and thus aren't included as part of the original download of the game/app. I remember when I first booted Uncharted 2, it downloaded and installed 18 files one at a time. The current version of U2 is v1.18 so it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was actually downloading every one of those 18 patches one at a time.
Why the fuck do digital distribution goods have to installed? They should be ready to launch as soon as they're downloaded. I can perfectly understand if I needed to install disc-based games, but digital distribution stuff? Fuck off.
Xbox 360 has a much better user experience by fucking light years. The only reason I've kept the PS3 around is because of the exclusive games it has. If the PS3 exclusives that I deemed worthwhile were all re-released onto better platforms, I'd toss the console off of my deck immediately.

Odd how a whole heap of JRPGs have been getting PC ports this year. Primarily Square Enix ones.

The FF7 port released onto Steam sells well. Aforementioned success prompts the release of FF8 onto Steam, which also sells well. FF3 DS remake is ported to Steam... and so on. There, your mystery is solved.

Ah. Hadn't looked up sales figures.
Hope Xenogears, Chronotrigger and Secret of Mana get on there.
Square prior to the merger with Enix had barely had much of an interest on the PC end of things, besides a few ports of Final Fantasy games here and there. Though those were few and far between.

Steam has literally changed the marketplace. Steam gave Japanese publishers liked Square, Namco, Sega, etc a standardised delivery system to work that they would feel comfortable with, having come from the console world.
Another thing is it is no longer the "dark ages" of 2006-2010. The PC marketplace is so profitable now that it's too lucrative for aforementioned publishers to ignore any longer. Eg Tekken 7 is coming and you know that only well it make a profit, but it will have a very long sales tail end because A. PC is a generation-less platform and B. any losses taken via heavily discounted Steam sales is countered by selling units in sheer large volumes.
