Jesus, I am curious what he could add to the already brimming with talent vALVE. Man, I wonder what Left 4 Dead 3 and Ep./HL3 could be with his creative input. YAY!
Only confirmed for DotA currently, though. Odd fit, but it certainly won't be his only title, just the first I suppose.

Valve is one the few established "AAA Western" studios where a creative mind such as his would've thrived. Other places off the top of my are Obsidian and any of the Zenimax subsidiary studios, particularly Arkane or BGS.

well i guess he will be assimilated into the collective and spat out as another drone with a fat paycheck. I would have loved to see him being hired by CDPR, GSC or Arkane. And I would love to see Valve do something really grand what they only hinted at with Portal1 (being a project by someone else of all things). Half-Life is a few classes BELOW Church's profile and abilities imo. But who knows, maybe he's a project lead and gets source2 to work with. Or he is just making coffee atm and is glad to get payed.

Jesus, mothra. Not to pile on here, but Doug is very respected in these parts and if you don't get that, I'm not sure I can explain it to you. What the hell are you on about, anyway? How is Valve + Doug anything but good at this point in his career or their history? Care to articulate that beyond cheap shots about him being a "drone."

I clearly said that I think Valve is below his abilities. How does that belittle him? I can't see them having any idea what they should give him to work than their own crap which means: hello drone. He worked on the best videogames in history, unsurpassed by the new school crap in many departements. I don't give a shit what "this board" thinks of him OR Valve, I respect his work and if I would ever meet him and have the opportunity to talk to him I would tell him how much I am thankful and degrade myself to a frothing fanboy asking for an autograph.
The RPS article says that it has been confirmed that he is working for Valve but not at which project. So it is possible that he is working on one of their current projects (portal2 or dota2), one of their "maybe" projects aka HL3 or HL:EP3 or just sitting there making coffee, getting payed and/or having he usual brainstorm sessions across projects or for new stuff. Or they told him: come up with sthg/anythg which then gets put thru the valve mangler of boringness
