Is this game worth getting? Are the bugs fixed in the Steam version?

It's definitely worth getting, one of the best dark RPGs IMO.
I'm not sure about the Steam version but you can download unofficial patches that fix the bugs.

Great timing, just in time for Halloween!
I think the patches are compatible with Steam; I had to do some forum digging and one guy reports no problems with the "True" patch.
There's two series of fanpatches, there's the "True" patch and Wesp5's Unofficial Patch. The difference is that the "True" patch is straight-up bugfixes where Wesp5's patch is attempting to make the game more like his interpretation of what Troika originally wanted the game to be. I'm particularly a fan of the latter, my rationale being that if you really think about it there's no way we could possibly know what Troika really intended the final product to resemble, because it was rushed out the door by the publisher. (Hence why it's such a buggy mess in the first place.)

I can confirm that the fan patches work fine on the Steam release.

Bloodlines is more or less Deus Ex with vampires, which should be reason enough for anyone to grab it. Er, unless you really hate vampires.

Cool but I have 3 copies already. Silly me thinking I could help Torkia in business.

Just grabbed this - my first ever Steam purchase! Look forward to playing it!

Anyone who loves FPS/RPG's should play this game. The combat's a bit clunky, but everything else is nearly perfect IMO. The humor alone makes it worth the purchase.

I never managed to convince myself giving a try to this game because i was never sure if i'd like playing it, considering videos and screenshots i found. I did read a lot of very favorable reviews and comments on TTLG, but i didn't make the step, because here's the thing:
Is it possible to overlook the leather/piercing gothic* "i'm so evil" look of the characters, and heavy industrial rock (i really can't listen to Ministry)?
(*so far from the original Frankenstein movies i must deplore)
I get the impression that since it is so rooted to genre and aesthetics i'm really not into, i couldn't enjoy it. I'd be glad to reconsider my opinion if anyone with the same distastes did however appreciate this game. Which is basically why i'm posting this...

Bugs, some unpolished levels and the not-so-great ending levels (but not the ending itself) aside, Bloodlines, in my eyes, is easily (one of the) most amazing game I have ever played. With a very lively and believable world, tons of atmosphere, possibly best-to-date character animations and facial expressions, great dialogue, lots of sidequests and somewhat branching story, multitude of ways to accomplish (most) tasks and diverse gameplay.
