For anyone who's never played this before-- Forget about building a ranged character on your first runthrough. The combat system
heavily favors melee. Plus you don't have to buy ammo.
The assault shotgun has kept me out of trouble up until now.
I can't seem to beat Ming Xiao though. Got her down to less than half by shooting off her limbs and frying her clones repeatedly, but I ran out of flamethrower fuel and died. Any hints?

best NPC ever
Bloodlines has in general most memorable NPCs and best voice acting in videogame history.

MM, I just emptied a few clips from the assault rifle into her, and don't even remember those bits you mention (clones? limbs come off?). But this was a couple of years ago and I dunno if it's something that's been changed with all this dicking around in the patches.

Just finished this tonight! Was great fun - might replay it as a different character soon. I noticed Doug Lombardi of all people was in the Special Thanks in the credits. Anyone got any idea how he was involved in the game?

I was under the impression that the "true" patch included histories of the different clans.
Histories are in the official version of the game, just disabled by default because Troika didn't have time to fully test and balance them. I believe both versions of Wesp's patch enable histories.

The Lassiter Killmatic and the sniper rifle (zoomed only) are both good choices. Other than that, it's just keeping your distance and having enough bloodpacks...

The game is built on Valve's Source engine, as it was being developed no less. New engine updates applied to Bloodlines would often break the game; no doubt they would've gotten technical assistance from Valve.

Thanks, I didn't realize ol' Jaime Sue doesn't do as much damage unzoomed.

Indeed; am I right in remembering that Bloodlines had to be held back a bit as it was ready before HL2 itself was?
