Got this in the Halloween sale recently. Might be time to install it.

This would be awesome if several of us installed it and either replayed or played for the first time together as a forum. Man, I would love it. It could spark all sorts of great conversations about this game. Much better than the random post in "What are you playing" every 6 months or so.

The Thief FM Forum did that with their "Brotherhood in Shadows" thread (or whatever it was called). A big group of them planned to play an FM at the same time & talk about it each month. We could think about something like that for GenGaming, except instead of FMs it's classic games that a lot of people have, and maybe not as frequent as every month, just when people agree. But yeah, what the hell, we could do one for VTM:B if a lot of us are re-installing it, why not... It's not a big formal thing, only it needs people actually posting to it to make it fun.
I always pick the "add" patch version myself because I want to keep my ghoul Heather without having her die.

I'd be up for it. Just started up my character last night, answered all the quiz questions and ended up in the Nosferatu clan. Went through the initial tutorial area of the game, and now am just trying to get a feel for the gameplay. The game is actually a little more complex than I thought, but it's a pretty interesting world and set of scenarios so far.
If we all do a playthrough, should we just keep the comments in this thread, or start a new one?

Just a note - the Nosferatu is probably the worst clan for a first playthrough. Most of what makes this game great, the interaction with NPCs, will be limited, as the Nosferatu are butt ugly and stick to the sewers, the social recluses that they are.

But it is perfectly fine to do a first time playthrough as a Malkavian. I did so and found that the story and narrative are fully understandable. My theory is that the common recommendation to not do so is made by dyslexics.

I see this all the time but I played as Nosferatu my first time and did not feel that my interaction with NPCs was that limited. I mean, yeah, I couldn't walk out on the streets that easily but I could talk to plenty of interesting people. The stealthy nature of the Nosferatu also came in handy in the last sections where I was backstabbing absolutely everybody.

The ending was utter shite compared to what had gone before, my first playthrough I had built a more social skills kind of character, and then the end was like a huge dungeon crawl with annoyingly hard monsters so I ended up using health cheats to finish the game. The first 75% though was very good.

This. Malk was my first char (random quiz) which I felt actually was better *because* I had no idea what the story or what Malks were about. The clan is about coping with your own insanity, hence not knowing I was actually insane made me feel in-character so much more; it took me a while to realize it wasnt just vampirism/writing but something was "off." Like the time the
TV talks to you actually made me question what is real and what isn't (in-game). It was a pretty awesome moment, and probably the closest I'll ever get to understanding what schizophrenics feel :p
