STEP ASIDE (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135283) GIRP! There's a NEW mountin climbing game in town! And by "NEW" I mean "OLD"! From 2011 in fact, but somehow I only found out about it a few days ago. Only just now managed to reach the top of the mountain in the playable demo, and here's the video:

The demo, which you can download (
http://www.wildebeestgames.com/vertigo.htm) here, was uploaded in October 2011, and sadly that's the last piece of news I could find about the development of this game. Vertigo is not only great, it is something
truly unique, and the fact that it seems to have stalled before reaching the finish line, or failed to attract the attention of a publisher, can only be described as a
God damn crying shame. I hope the dev, Wildebeest Games, does a Kickstarter or something. This game needs to exist.

I don't know if I'd play Vertigo, but I'm impressed by how the climber reacts to the inputs. The developer clearly put a lot of work into that. There's a moment in that demo video at ~9:35 which kinda broke the immersion, mind :)

The physics do get a bit wonky sometimes but that instance (9:35) actually makes sense since my rope is connected to the hook right next to my waist. When you connect to one of the hooks it breaks your fall if you're underneath it and you can dangle from it as long as at least 1 arm or leg is hanging on to the wall.

I think that was a reference to the Steam popup ;P.

You see that popup often enough and you don't even notice it anymore.
Unless it's one of my basketcase friends flooding me with their 5th meltdown of the week (if not day.)

henke: Ah! Yes, I completely missed that trick :)
