At the chance of getting reamed by you guys :P I need your input! I know the answers to some seem extremely obvious but I would like to hear a variety of answers just in case.
1) Why do you like VG podcasts?
2) What benefits do they serve you?
3) If a particular website (like 1UP for instance) has a podcast, does a hosts likability increase your interest in future articles written by them?
4) Whats an ideal length?
5) Daily? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Monthly?
I really appreciate this!

The problem with podcasts is that they're the complete opposite of your typical radio show. There's music at the beginning and end, but there's all that talking in between. Whereas on the radio, the talking's crisp and cuts to that sweet, sweet music ASAP. I mean, which bunch of back asswards retards came up with this shit?
If I wanted to hear people chat up random stuff, I'd walk down to the nearest pub or log into a weekly teleconference.
Serious footnote: With text, at least you can scan that shit far quicker than listening to some ill-articulated summary of how jiggling tits in DOA are bringing the industry down (though it's more likely up, I'd gander). Doesn't help that most podcasts aren't really too well organised. If there were indexed and tabbed topic-wise, it would be nice.

1) Why do you like VG podcasts?
I don't like them all, but the one I listen to has veteran, professionals working in the industry who have higher-end equipment and are genuinely concerned about staying relatively focused.
2) What benefits do they serve you?
A way to hear other gamers' opinions on games. I don't have more than a couple friends who are gamers, and I have a decent commute. It is a nice alternative to morning radio/shock jocks occasionally.
3) If a particular website (like 1UP for instance) has a podcast, does a hosts likability increase your interest in future articles written by them?
Somewhat, but only if I respect the podcast in the first place.
4) Whats an ideal length?
An hour.
5) Daily? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Monthly?
Weekly.

I listen to two podcasts that may be considered Video Games Related: One Life Left, and the RPS Electronic Wireless Show.
1) Why do you like VG podcasts?
Entertainment. Neither of them are particularly about news, and I listen more for the banter than the news.
2) What benefits do they serve you?
See #1.
3) If a particular website (like 1UP for instance) has a podcast, does a hosts likability increase your interest in future articles written by them?
No.
4) Whats an ideal length?
For whatever reason, I like talking-based podcasts to be long. At least 30 min, preferably an hour or so.
5) Daily? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Monthly?
Weekly.

What's wrong with you people? Podcasts are awesome.
1) Why do you like VG podcasts?
Because I enjoy hearind people discus games. I don't have lots of friends who are as into games as I am, and we don't have access to (or inclination to purchase) all the latest games.
2) What benefits do they serve you?
Entertainment. Possibly some retail advice - I've occasionally become interested in a game after hearing about it in a podcast.
3) If a particular website (like 1UP for instance) has a podcast, does a hosts likability increase your interest in future articles written by them?
For me, not often - purely because I rarely look at the author of an article, unless I have some special reason to (for example, if I thought the article was particularly biased).
4) Whats an ideal length?
Two hours.
5) Daily? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Monthly?
Weekly is good.
EDIT: For the record, I regularly listen to the 1Up and GiantBomb podcasts. I used to listen to Gamasutra's podcasts but decided I wasn't the target audience - I was more interested in being entertained by talk about games (and GB's crazy banter) than being edified by Gamasutra's interviews. Also occasionally listen to GameSpot's HotSpot but I don't usually enjoy it as much.

1) Why do you like VG podcasts?I enjoy hearing back stories to games and the making of them so having the authors telling it themselves as opposed to getting it from a news feed or article is ideal for me.
Example: The latest one from (
http://irrationalgames.com/) IG, Irrational Behavior Episode 2: The Way Things Were was perfect. I laughed and got insight into life at that game studio I won't know otherwise. First hand and anecdotal stories like that make the podcast for me.
2) What benefits do they serve you?My attention spans sucks so hearing it saves me the time trying to read about it.
3) If a particular website (like 1UP for instance) has a podcast, does a hosts likability increase your interest in future articles written by them? No, but i rarely read articles anyway so...
4) Whats an ideal length? An hour.
5) Daily? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Monthly?Weekly.

I usually only listen to one podcast, In-Game Chat. It's been a mainstay of mine for the past year or so. It's the official podcast of the Colony of Gamers community. The hosts usually talk about upcoming titles, what they've been playing and why they are playing (or not playing) said games, and it's mostly informal. One of the hosts has very strong opinions about video gaming and his snarky attitude can be very entertaining to listen to. Their weekly shows usually last anywhere between 1-4 hours depending on the week. Ideally, a good length for their show is about 2.5 hours. Anymore after that gets a little dull, even if the show is entertaining. I just have trouble sitting there listening to it that long.
