OK, so video games aren't art, because they're interactive. But music is art. Videogames contain music. Therefore, videogames contain art.
From this, we can conclude video games are a superset of art.

I thought Sulphur had a pretty good post and argument going, then pardoner fagged up the thread with an INSANELY UNIMPORTANT POINT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TOPIC NICE ONE

Yah, what are the odds that I'd read and post in a thread on a forum that I read and post in more than any other forum?
Dumbass.
Yah, what were the odds that you'd feel the necessity to weigh in on any post that rankled your oversensitive little brain on this forum?
For being such an enormous
dickhead it's a wonder you're not in a state of constant bliss, seeing as you've got that head of yours permanently shoved up your own ass.
@SE & PigLick: Thank you for being the voices of reason.

I am so jealous of you for saying this

Aja and Sulphur stfu. This personal attack on ZB is totally uncalled for. His first post was perfectly legit so wtf is you guys problem?

Why are gamers so intensely concerned, anyway, that games be defined as art? Bobby Fischer, Michael Jordan and Dick Butkus never said they thought their games were an art form. Nor did Shi Hua Chen, winner of the $500,000 World Series of Mah Jong in 2009. Why aren't gamers content to play their games and simply enjoy themselves? They have my blessing, not that they care.
Do they require validation? In defending their gaming against parents, spouses, children, partners, co-workers or other critics, do they want to be able to look up from the screen and explain, "I'm studying a great form of art?" Then let them say it, if it makes them happy.

Edit: Ah ha! It worked! Praise be the ZB signal!
What is this a response to then? Oh, this isn't insulting you say? It's a personal attack/slight and well you know it, and is exactly why he followed up with the dumbass comment.
Aja I expect idiocy from, and when there is already one twit (Pardoner) acting up in a thread I didn't expect this low-brow nonsense from you Sulphur. :tsktsk:
Vernon - I think that its because all other forms of popular entertainment are considered art - books, music, film, stage shows of multiple types and so on. The "exclusion" of games as "art" is just a device that non-gaming snobs/people who don't get it to try use to denigrate games, and by extension gamers. Not that I care if people think my hobby is somehow "less" than theirs but you know, say it like it is you chumps.

Well, I didn't think I was making an attack, more a snarky observation. I expected a follow-up snipe, but I guess Mr. Grumps was grumpier than usual when he pulled the dumbass line out.
Having said that, you're right. My response was somewhat out of line (no matter how true it may be *
zing*)
Zeebs, my apologies.
