Now I can show my XFire friend who doesn't have the game why I love and hate this level so much.

I'm sorry, but it could've been way better. In Part 2 you circle around the same spot like you have no idea what you are doing, which detracts from the atmosphere and would be quite boring and funny to the watcher(who hasn't played the level). In Part 4 you missed the puppet silhouette that runs in front of that window in the very beginning of The Inner Cradle. I mean come on - this is the moment.
You actually subtly show 1 puppet at the end of Part 4, but I think it would've been creepier and more natural if it was on a regular patrol route and just passed through a hallway before the viewer's eyes.
Overall, a video of the cradle Couldn't involve me half as much as the game did. The ambience didn't seem so scary and I wouldn't show it to anyone, claiming that this level creeped me to death, because I'd expect them to laugh at me.

Well, apparently just the videos scare a lot of people I show... Well I suppose they arent exactly the Silent Hill zombie-slaughtering no-fear type, but it goes to show that even a video is scary.

I don't recall that bit. Does anyone have a screenshot?

That one bit there scared me enough that I didnt play Theif for months. That was when I was blessed with no spoilers of the cradle whatsoever.

That was a silhouette? I assumed it was just one of the "puppets" that was wandering around.
The first time I played the mission I saw it, figured I'd wait to see what its routine was, never saw it come back and kept exploring.

Meh, it got me all like "NOW it's starting! :wot: "

In all reality, yes it IS a puppet walking around, just you only see it's silhouette if you go from the correct angle. But then again the silhouette of the thing IS the thing, just without light shed on the side you see it from

Those are utterly fantastic! I especially love the fact that the 'player' behaved like a real person in such a situation.... crouching at spooky sounds (I did the same, it's hilarious! I basically crouched through nearly the entire mission), and that Garrett's first reaction to the ghost was back up against the door, but stay to listen.
Only it would've been better to end the last part with a flashbomb when the zombie was UP CLOSE, so that for a split moment, you'd see it nice and clear. Then it would've been perfectly scary....:wot:
