(

The name grabbed my eye when I was skimming over this:
(

The video makes it look thoroughly worth downloading, if you have any affection for such things. Hopefully the "XBox360 controller" requirement doesn't literally mean it won't work without that exact brand of gamepad.
The gameplay looks very different, but I'm reminded of the excellent "Airfix Dogfighter" game from several years ago. There should be more games like that.

Nice.
Reminds me a bit of (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYt93vxIdaw) Glyder on the iPhone. More a meditative state than an actual game, but a nice meditative state. Sadly Glyder isn't compatible with the latest iOS.
It also reminds me of the first phase in (
http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/darker) Darker, a dogfight game in which you could only glide from energy pole to energy pole. A game that could use a lot more polish in the gameplay department, but back in the day I played it a lot regardless. Its gliding sensation (finding/feeling the balance between staying up and stalling) and atmospheric environment really struck a cord with me.

Looks nice. The trailer song was the same as one I listened to just a few minutes ago. I was already wondering why Spotify just started playing out of nowhere.

What things?
Children?
That's not healthy.
Or legal.

Downloaded. Played.
That was wonderful. :)
The controls are a bit fidgety at first, it takes a while to get used to controlling the plane with the left and right triggers only. The goal of the game is to color in the landscape by flying under, through, or near things. Easy things at first, like though a set of swings, but things get trickier pretty soon when you have to fly through things like a car. In through one window and out through the other. The landscape appears barren at first, but more things pop up as you color stuff. The presentation is top-notch and especially good looking for a Unity-game.
On the bad side: There doesn't appear to be a save-function. You can't turn off the music. And it seems you do indeed need a 360 pad, at this point, to play the game.
edit: I do believe I've beaten it. The girl is probably the last thing that gets colored.

This is free isn't it? If not then someone better tell the makers of Flower because judging from that trailer there is more than just inspiration taken from it.

Yes, it's free.
*off to find out what Flower is...*edit: It's a PS3 exclusive. (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJam5Auwj1E) Trailer.
edit2: Looking at the trailers, the similarities between the two look to be in pretty generic areas, really. They may well have been inspired by Flower, but I think they've done their own thing with this. Certainly I'm not seeing anything that would remotely warrant legal action if Paper Plane was for sale (if that was the implication).
Apparently they also wanted the player to interactively fold the paper plane before flying it, but had to drop that part to focus on the rest.

I've noticed a ton of Flower clones recently (okay, only a handful, <10 or so, but out of a small field it seems like a lot), and interestingly almost always a similar debate, somebody mentions it as the most original game ever (though not so much here), then someone else replies that it just copies Flower, then there's a debate to what extent it's merely copying vs still being very creative, original, and doing its own thing and just inspired (often defended by people that saw the clone first). I guess that's the way these things always go.
I like mini-flying games, so I'm not down on there being more of them in any event.

I've got Flower and believe me when I saw the Paperplane trailer the first thing I thought was "Holy crap, this looks like it was built on the same engine. How have the done that?" because the way the plane speeds up and slows down is almost identical to the way the petals/wind does in Flower, nevermind the "colour the world" aim. And it may not be in that Flower trailer but later on in the game you get into cities and so are flying around buildings.
demagogue - flying games are fine and good. But a game where you colour the landscape and other things by flying through other things?
What bothers me about it it's in a competition, for money, and is clearly ripped off. If they say they didn't get the idea from Flower they are bullshitters.

Watched the flower trailer, the gameplay does indeed look very similar. Except that the flowerpetals look way easier to control than the plane is, though that's not easy to judge from a video I'll admit.
