Apologies for yet another Vista post. I've done a forum search and haven't found any threads that address my problem specifically.
I've since gotten a new computer (or two...) since ye olde Thief days. Oh my, the game's a little harder to run now! I installed it on my computer (quad-core @ 2.6GHz, 8800GT, 8GB RAM, Windows Vista 64 bit) and followed Goldsla's (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=76504) miniguide on how to make Thief work.
So yeah, the game works. Movies play, game doesn't crash, etc. Whether it's actually playable is debatable, though. My biggest annoyance is leaving the game world to enter the menu or view the map. My entire screen skitzes like a seizure, and let's not talk about the horrors of alt-tabbing. When the screen finally settles on the menu (or map, or whatever else I was trying to look at), often the mouse pointer will only be restricted to a very small area in the upper-left of the screen, and I will have to alt-tab, sometimes more than once, before I can move the mouse to any other part of the screen.
I'm not sure what my problem is here. I'm guessing video card, drivers, or the fact I'm doing dual monitors...? My card's an 8800GT, I'm using driver version 7.15.11.8122, and I run my resolutions at 1920x1200 and 1680x1050. Could anyone tell me what exactly is causing my Thief irritation, and what some options for curing it could be?
Thanks <3

I've got similar problems in the past.
Have you tried to use (
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) DDFix?
It removes the resolution switching between the game and menus and could fix your problems that way.

Confirmed. DDFix solves this annoyance. The resolution switching causes those problems, even caused me some problems in XP.
