Voice actors wanted. - by bikerdude

I'm considering getting into voice acting, but I admit I don't know anything about it really. I did take one course at school called TV and Radio Announcing. We learned how to say words (in tv and radio you can't sound like a texan, you need to sound "proper." That is, pronunciation is key. That much I know.)

What kind of recording kit have you got..? as that comes first before the ability to say words etc.

Well, what stuff can you suggest? I honestly have nothing to work with. I've got an old microphone my friend gave me, and then I've got a gaming headset with a mic. That's it. (well, other than my laptop's built in mic.)

Without knowing makes and models I would suggest the headset..., but if you have some spare cash i would suggest a similar setup to mine, its releatively cheap and works well.
Stereo condensor mic - £20 for mine from maplins
USB audio device (EMU 0202) - £50 from online.
and a cheap laptop with audacity installed(freeware) or a very quiet desktop pc - why you say.. even the cheap £20 mic picked up the noise of the fans in the desktop...

It's some Logitech gaming headset I bought a few years ago. Sorry, can't remember the model. I could probably look those things up online, thanks.

Its very similar to and external USB sound card, but with better specs specifically for audio recording and playback. It was a very good find because I only do occasional recording and had set my budget at £150 for mic+sound card+laptop.

Unless you have a very directional mic, your gonna pickup the fan noise from the pc. And those USB samson mics, dont have a loud enough output - I know because I tried one and sent it back. The only setup i can recommend that is very cost effective and works is my setup, condensor mic(Yogo Em-278) + USB audio device(EMU-0202) + cheap laptop(an old tosh).
