Like the topic says, when i play Thief 2 i always start with
turning the volume to max in sound settings (in game).
And when i play the game, the volume lower itself, i dont notice
when it happens, after a while i just come to think that,
now is the volume low AGAIN, pretty frustrating.
Anybody has an idea why the game does that? And how to fix it,
if its possible.

I think I had something like this happen to me long ago. My guess is, you have some action bound to the same thing as the volume-down key (or bound to an equivalent key). Open up the controls and see what Decrease main volume is bound to. Maybe that will help you figure it out...

I once had that problem and "solved" it by write protecting the configuration file.

It does that to me too. As I'm playing along the sound will get steadily lower and lower until suddenly a guard catches me because I've been making more noise than I thought. It's quite inconvenient.

Thanks for the help :p
I will look into it.
*EDIT*
Luthien: which config file do you mean?
Is it in the game folder or win?

I was gonna start a new thread for this, but it's kinda related...
In Thief Gold, every time I start the game it resets the "audio channels" option to 8, even though I set it manually to 12. Tbh I can't hear the difference, it's just geek OCD - I want it to stay where I set it! I can see the value right there in cam.cfg:
If I change that to 12 and start the game up, the options screen still says 8; I quit and reopen the file and see that evil magic has changed the value back to 8.
 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
So I change it to 12 again and write-protect the file. Now the value stays at 12 in the file, but when I start up the game it still says 8!
Irritating.

(Not related to your problem, but somewhat similar...)
I have "sound problems" when I play Thief (as well as other things) then listen to something through WinAmp. Apparently, WinAmp lowers the "wave" setting in the master volume control, which in turn makes the volume lower for applications that use wave.
I imagine other players do this, too. Not just WinAmp.

The setting is in cam.cfg in the game folder.

Ok thanks. I'll try that.
