This seriously sucks. There is no coop play to play through the SP game online?
WTF?!?!
Maximus Shevenon on 25/1/2001 at 04:22
I dont mean to be rude, but how did u think you could play coop? The whole single player storyline is based on JC, how could you add another character, and more importantly who would u add?
Sorry but i thought it seemed pretty obvious.

Yeah, true, but wouldn't it have been nice? One of you could be Paul. I know I'm living in Dreamland, but wouldn't it be nice?

Maximus Shevenon,
I take it you haven't played System Shock 2? The whole story revolves around the Hacker, but you can add players, up to 4 in all, and play Co-op style, and experience of doing so is grand.
Therefore, your statement is nill in this issue. Nothing is obvious, except for the fact that they did not implement that style of play. What is not obvious is that we don't know exactly why. Was is too hard to code? Would it have messed up the previous code? Would the aging Unreal engine even allow it to be done? Would framerates be acceptable had it been done?

My guesses are: too much extra development time, and it would screw up the already-shaky plot.

Your other person - or persons - that play along with you could just be mute during the cutscenes. Or you could just play it for the fun of it. Like the Liberty Island level with 2 other nano-tech agents.

Still, why are people complaining about a free addon? We were lucky to get anything extra.
Maximus Shevenon on 26/1/2001 at 10:00
I'm sorry but I just dont see the point in having coop for a game with a story like Deus Ex. The whole point of Deus Ex was the engrossing storyline which pulled the player into the game world, as soon as you add another character for which to play coop, that all goes out the window.
I also agree with -ô_ô- that we shouldnt be complaining about something which was given to us for free, and easily could have milked us for more money.

I would have like to have seen a coop addition. The storyline doesn't matter. It would have been for fun. I'm not complaining I just think that it would be cool to have.

Maximus,
You're thinking too deep into this. Think OUTSIDE the box man. You said that it's pointless for them to add Co-op for a game like this. O.k., maybe for you, but not to the rest of us. You could still play the game regularly, by yourself, through the single player game.....that's what we all did in SS2. But if you wanted to play with a buddy for fun, then the both of you could go through the game together and build your characters differently....just like we did in SS2. It's not pointless. It's just not your taste. Just as Death Matching isn't my taste. I can't stand Death Matching Multiplay....I prefer team CTF like TFC. But I don't say it's pointless for them to add DM Multiplay.
Besides the point above, nothing would be lost by playing with your friends through this game. The story would be exactly the same. The story would revolve around J.C. and the only thing that would be different is the fact that he now has help from some friends/sidekicks.
