Telltale did it again !!!!
another quality ip gets the telltale treatment: wallace & gromit our beloved inventor + dog-sidekick duo. hillarity will ensue. according to the press release they'll try to retain the "claymation" look and it will be episodic again.
let's hope they get the original voices for them !!!!

Do you get paid by telltale or something?
Anyway on topic Wallace & Gromit adventures sound like a wonderful idea however Telltale have yet to really impress me. Personally their adventure games get a B mark from me. Good but certainly not great and worryingly they have shown very little growth.

They don't need to, with a bunch of people slobbering all over their games from nostalgia over some obscure cartoon bullshit from the 80s and early 90s they're pretty much guaranteed easy money with no need to change.

I love telltale.
i don't get paid, maybe i should ask them.
but they make me happy with their choices for games to turn into episodic properties. I made peace with the puzzles being easy and approach the games (S&M at least) more like an interactive tv serial. I think it would be suicide for them to develop a brand-new episodic IP, it's much easier to get an audience for already known games. maybe they'll announce something new in the future. writing-wise I think S&M are the best "funny" games I ever played and I hope they treat W&G with the same respect.
i hope for:
one self-invented tool by wallace per episode at least
many crackers and chesse
claymation effects
it was already confirmed that you will be able to control both of them, let's see with what they come up. only point and click ? or something.....more sophisticated ?
so would it have been better if I chose a negative thread - title ?
like "telltale suck up to old fans and display no originality in their next ip purchase ?".

Have YOU been a long time fan of Koki, but just could not afford his services?
Then NOW is your chance!
The all new Dethtoll comes with the same -my opinion is conclusive fact- attitude and he hates a lot of stuff too!
He can be yours for only nine ninety five, OR, if you CALL NOW he is FREE! That's right, you heard it right, get your Koki like comments for absolutely no extra cost at all!

But seriously, if you don't like Sam&Max humor thats OK. To each his own. But to label the success of the new series as purely nostalgia driven, is a bit silly. The whole episodic setup would have been devastating for sales if the games were no fun. Yet, they're doing rather well.
Of course, being a point and click adventure has some serious draw backs. The obligatory getting stuck leads to an uneven pace and that doesn't sit well with short episodes. Luckily the short episodes together form the rather excellent seasons, which, as a whole, form a seriously large adventure with some classic adventure goodness. And there are annoyingly little of those available nowadays.

Don't worry, mothra. At least in this thread, the slobbering isn't really being done by Telltale fanboys.
Anyway, when it comes to series of any kind - whether games, films, TV or books - I personally prefer well-executed evolution (even if the improvements are minor) over revolution-for-the-sake-of-it. Would people want their favourite TV series to reinvent themselves with every season? If so, are there any seasons like that? (I don't think I've heard that many people complain that, "Man, The Wire season 3... It's just more of the same, isn't it? It's just fodder for the fanboys slobbering over their favourite... Easy money, man - easy money!"

I know what you are getting at, gameplay wise the series did not change at all since season1 but the puzzles/story arc did change over time, making SE02 a much more cohesive "big story" than several tiny episodes with a small red thread like SE1 was. And I can't see them change this formula in the near future. evolution could come for me (with S&M) only thru the story and dialogues, the puzzles. and in that departement they certainly got better and better since S1.

Well how the fuck else would Sam & Max/Wallace & Grommit adventure games have been able to sell so well in the first place? Because some people actually remember the obscure cartoons from 15 years ago.
I never really understood the popularity of either one. I guess that makes me a horrible person.
