Are we going to see it really go that far though? He was just reassuring Skyler in that episode; we all knew he was in danger. Will he really ever be able to replace Gus/become Gus-like? There are some similarities in that they both have a... methodical approach to things but I don't know that Walt has it in him to, nor do I think he has the necessary composure to keep it together when things don't run smoothly.

Just finished watching the Season 4 finale.
I'm not wearing any pants.
That is all.

Meanwhile, in an appropriately pertinent conversation being held on Steam...
Renzatic: I dunno. Breaking Bad can get pretty surreal at times
Renzatic: in a Mexican magical realism sorta way
Tender loin: That I can dig
Tender loin: Sorta like the lazy mind trips from the big lebowski, huh
Renzatic: weirder than that
Renzatic: it mostly revolves around The Twins in season 3...you'll see
Tender loin: Hmm, okay
Renzatic: and when you watch it, you'll think
Renzatic: "this is where Duck is from"
Renzatic: ...and it explains so much
Tender loin: Heh!
Tender loin: Also explains why he dun got no pants on watching it
Renzatic: what? Duck never wears pants
...and then I come here. Mexican magical realism INDEED!

Am I supposed to take the lack of pants to mean that Duck is always engaged in cooking meth?

He lives in Mexico, not Kentucky.
