Before anyone asks, it shows driving down highway 61 (from Saskabush to Edmonchuck), taken from the driver's seat, music overlayed, some playing around with the inverted filter.
Its not bad, a bit boring. I liked the end where you hear the actual sound coming from the radio for the authentical atmosphere.

thanks K...i am working on editing and transitions and stuff. the trip itself is dead boring, so i didn't have much to work with, but its a fun program to learn. thanks for watching :)

Reminded me a bit of the (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZYfdsaqoOM) Star Guitar video.
I agree with the 'a bit boring' critique, but perhaps that feel is only fitting for an impression of a boring trip.
For me the boring feel is even enhanced by the short upside down perspective later on, a view that directly took me back being a kid and -out of boredom- hanging/sitting upside down on the sofa waiting for daytime tv to start..

haha, yea my video is a bit like that Star Guitar one...:laff:
remember, im new at this...not even close to being descent at making movies, and still don't know all the soft ware, but I will keep practising and hopefully get good over time
thanks for giving it a watch addink!

You know, just be careful. That highway looks pretty empty, still I think you shouldn't be filming while driving.
A good free program for video editing is (

For the record, driving videos can be interesting if you pick the right music and cut it well.
Then the driving can serve as an extension of the music, almost like visual percussion.
And the music can be a kind of anthem or testimony to the landscape or spirit of the place.
But most of all, pick the kind of music you can just stare out the window and lose yourself to the moment.

Edit: Looking at the EitS and your video side by side, I think it helps when you turn the camera more to the landscape and less to the road, then it's a story about the timeless land and the perpetual motion, and not so much us and this trip and passers-by which make it ... back down to earth (hard to put it into words), and the same road shot. And IMO the emotion to shoot for is more the slow tripping out than the slightly bouncy funk your cutting had that kept bringing us back to a regular road too ... so longer shots, letting passing scenery set the pacing not moving the camera around. This is just some knee jerk things I noticed though. Your video is good too. But that EitS video has a surreal timeless quality and I wondered myself what about it evoked that feeling so strongly ... aside from the music of course, but it's not only that.

I haven't watched your video, yet, since I'm on my dail-up connection at home. But, I have a silly question for those who post on YouTube. And keep in mind that this is not meant to be dickish in any sort of way, or directed at you Luck Hand of Glory, but if the one posting states that the video is "not that good" then why would you upload it? I'd rather that person upload something they honestly believe is good, or at least believe in. Whether it is good or not will be determined later by the viewer, but at least the creator takes some modicum of pride in his own work.
Once again, I'm not judging your video LHoG, and am not trying to make any disparaging comments directed toward you or your intentions. I'm just wondering why users post (by their own admission) something they don't consider to be that good?

thanks friends for your comments...i know this place is sick with artistic talent, computer knowledge, ambience feelings and creativity, so I appreciate all feedback.
my little vid was more of a foray into editing, and less so in the realm of storytelling, but comments made and links given will be taken into consideration on my next attempt at something.
...the reason I posted my vid on you tube is that one cannot see the real finished project on ones pc, due to lag and shit, so posting it is the only way I can see what I have actually done, especially on the tight cuts and transitions - those I basically did blind. Also my family and friends wanted to see what I was working on, so I just threw it out there. also wanted to caveat my project with an "its not that good", so ppl would not expect the work of a pro or someone who has been trained or who has great skills...i am an amateur just having fun with some new software...i have only been doing this for like 10 days or so :)
but in any case, I am glad you guys took a moment to check my project out...i will be back with more soon, i hope...just waiting for some inspirations – it seems to come when I least expect it
I also did a little movie about my travels - its an earlier project, didn’t know the software much and I didn’t think about making anything out of the footage I took, so its not great either, but was a fun project to cut my teeth on
Thanks again 
