I know, that's why I often do backup saves. I save to a different file each day, or when I'm very productive I do it every 2 hours or so.
Thing is, the work I've done yesterday were mostly tweaks and details, so I saved all my work on a single file, which got corrupted by this sim state, even the backup and done files...
Whatever, I almost recovered all the work I've done. A great way to waste time.
What I'd love to figure out, is how the hell did this sim state got activated. I'm paranoid now whenever I save.

I just found that it's possible to save a cow file without getting that warning. It doesn't explain how the variable got set to 0, but did you save in the cow format?

I never save in the cow format. I may have done it by accident, but looking at the files in my folder, I only have p_portal.cow and inprog.cow, while my mis files are R0-168, R0-169 and so on.

Then the mystery continues. I find it grimly interesting that you usually use multiple backups, and the moment you stopped, Dromed said "Aha! Gotcha!"

Indeed. Dromed is a fickle whore.
