Right, now it's more like "what would happen if everything from disney moved to Chernobyl right before radiation spilled".

Yes, we all can certainly read Dutch. ;)
There's a few pieces of concept art that I hadn't seen before, thanks for linking.

Sorry about that. Just wanted to link the truly amazing concept art.

I'm quite surprised that Disney is actually letting WS do what he's doing artistically to their classic characters. If it actually gets released looking like that concept art I forecast quite a few complaints coming their way, at the very least.

And I'm going to buy it regardless of whether I have a Wii or not.

Well the classic characters aren't exactly dragging in the big dollars these days, now are they?
What generates more revenue amongst today's kids, disposable 3D CGI films (not counting Pixar's output) featuring Hollywood celebrity voiced talking animals making fart jokes and pop culture references, or Mickey and co.? Don't forgot about manufactured child pop stars like Miley Cyrus and Zac Efron.
Disney is about as artistically bankrupt now as they were throughout the 70's and 80's, before Jeffrey Katzenberg revitalised their animation department with the string of modern classics that followed in the wake of The Little Mermaid.
Everything started going down hill again when Eisner had the TV animation department make DTV sequels to EVERYTHING.
So unless you're making adult fan art, they don't really care about keeping the integrity of the rich legacy as long it's abiding by their family friendly image, which frankly dark gothic shit is. That stuff is rooted in fairly tale, where good old fashion scares were a woven element. For a contemporary example you might want to look up The Nightmare Before Christmas. Making bank is Disney's central agenda.
If anything this Junction Point project is some of the most of the genuinely creative stuff that's been done with Disney properties in years.

That had to come at some point.

I love Disney's new style, to me it's more charming, you can get away with only so many musicals. Finding Nemo et etc ftw.

Finding Nemo is by Pixar, not Disney.
Think of Disney's role in Pixar productions as that of a game publisher. Pixar would be the developer.
