I know this hasn't really got much to do with Thief but for those of you who are interested in the medieval way of life there is a large event at Warwick Castle this Easter. It's four days long, Friday to Monday and we will be displaying life and war. You will see real battles with real weapons, authentic clothing and food. Ever wondered what it was like to wear armour? or carry a sword all day? Or, how about eating, bread, apples and cheese all the time :laff:
I will also be there hopefully recruiting mercenaries for my own Free Company. So come along, have some fun and witness real men in armour :sly:

I'm a member of the Battel Bonfire Boyes.. If i wanna see real Armour and stuff, i just look at what are membership wear ^_^;
It's meant to be pretty good up there, but there are alot of events like that going on. Though the only one I'll be near would be the Annual Medieval fair at Battel which isn't until May..
Oh, if you wanna know what it's like to carry a sword and wear chain mail.. it's tiring -_-
I take it you have something to do with the event? more of a full information fair then most events huh?

It's even more tiring in full plate and mail, festooned with weapons :sweat:
The society reenacts battles and living history over many events during the year, i.e. Blore Heath, Towton, Tewksbury, Stafford, Bosworth, Wakefield etc. Even events in Europe.
It's also fun when we get to play with the gunn (cannon) :sly:

I visited Warwick last fall, i loved it (and the Trebuchet as well). If i go to the UK this easter i'll be sure to visit as it's very close to Leicester (where my mother lives).
But if you guys want REAL weapons and armour and practicing them, than i must direct you to the only earnest practitioners of WMAs (western martial arts) - (
http://thearma.org/) . The ones of you that live in the USA or Western Europe (UK, France, Belgum whatever) have the advantage of having study groups in your own country.

Im a member of an Australian re-enactment group called the Ancient Hoplitikon of Melboure, we re-enact 3,4 and 5th century Greek hoplites as well as Macedonian and Roman infantry. It's not related to the medieval setting of Thief however I suppose it fits in with the precursors :D

I'd like to do some Hoplit re-enactment myself (or Mycenean bronze age, ...and in general everything throughout history :p) but there's... well... nothing of that kind around where I live. :erg: And of course there's money. Plus, I think most Hoplite groups (or maybe the Romans as well) do more the sort of living history/reconstruction thing without actual fighting, which would be my greatest interest.
Holy Thief, in fact I could really use this Hammerite armour for a music video I'm planning for this year. But since you're not really my neighbour I might be better of finding a work around.
