Wow. I might have to restart my game. I just made it to California, and I'm getting my ass kicked. I dumped all my money on supplies before taking the trip over, and now a goodly number of those resources have been drained taking out that damn meson cannon I got ambushed by on my first trip out.
I have almost no money, only 15 pocket medkits remaining, my bullets are running low, and very few things I've managed to kill leave anything worth any scrap. Things are getting hairy.

Okay, I've just completed it, and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, I would advise people to hold off getting it for the time being.
Sure, there's lots of stuff to do in the second half of the game, but unfortunately a lot of the quests there behave... eccentrically at the moment to say the least. While there were a few quest scripts that went wrong in Arizona, there are a lot more that break in California.
Give them some time to patch it, and it'll be a cracker, but it really does need patching.
I think they also need to do a final art pass as well, with character portraits and models not matching character descriptions a significant amount of the time. One stand-out example is a guy whose text describes him as black, but his model's white.
And they need to tidy up the inventory system. You'll pick up a LOT of crap that will appear with bold, white text, implying it's important and could be used for a side quest. But a lot of that stuff won't get used once, with one of the biggest offenders being a simple slice of toast. There's a guy who loves toast, yet you can't give him the slice you've had in your inventory for half the damn game. This partly feels like more broken quest scripts and partly like half-assed inventory implementation.
Still, the journey was a good one.
