This is a guy who has never touched these games before and has been playing years of FPS's, 3rd person shooters...
When did I ever claim this!??!?!?

* Guards have to face a
flashbomb, otherwise it won't affect their sight. You know,
realism. ;)
Nope, that's only in Thief 2.

Flash bombs work the same in both games; Thief 2 just has much brighter flashes. AIs always need to be facing the flash for the effect to take place (which is why dropping them works better than throwing).

At least you claimed that "I have too much Splinter Cell under my belt." That alone would almost imply years, unless you started with Conviction.
I can remember now that I went through the same thing with the burrick tunneling issue. Exactly the same thing, dodging burrick burps in the pit and wondering why there aren't any tunnels there.

I'd say I'm in the majority of the people that watch his videos for him basically mucking about with no clue what to do whatsoever, as opposed to the technical finesse he finishes each level with. :)
The majority of you guys at SA probably, but you're not the only ones watching his adventures.
I personally find it much more enjoyable now that he's displaying at least a certain amount of expertise. You know, like actually knowing about the quicksave key instead of pointlessly repeating Bafford's Manor all over again, and again, and again, and again. That was really, really, really, really annoying to watch, mostly because he was all like
"this fucking game doesn't know about autosave, because people didn't believe in that in 1998" or whatever.
What was that all about, anyway? Khad, did you play too many games with those fuckingly annoying saving points instead of quicksaves or something?
Anyway, my 2.25 year old nephew could've done
that in Bafford's Manor better, and I doubt that he's really the type for patience and stealth.

Wow, either I'm on a completely different wavelength or maybe I'm misinterpreting this thread?
Is the mocking at least meant in a friendly way?
Because I would think that instead of mocking, you guys would be supporting someone who's going into the Thief universe for the first time. After all, it would be to our benefit to show those game companies that there is still interest in non-FPS games like Thief.

If you record it, you know we will watch it.

I've just been playing fan missions for a few years and the originals are kinda foggy, so any taffers out there know of a point where he will be forced to use the walk key? Maybe The Sword or Return to the Cathedral? Or will the monkey on crack technique work for the whole series?

The Sword or Return to the Cathedral? Or will the monkey on crack technique work for the whole series?
Monkey on Crack technique will be tough in Casing the Joint and in some stage of the Cradle.
That aside, I think that this technique is sound for most missions, as long as it's in newbie mode err "hard" mode.

Oh man, I replayed RTC today and it was even more undead infested than I remembered it to be. He will die like fifty million times in the Cathedral alone.
No one tell him he can permanently kill Haunts and Apparitions
