Erm. Iirc it is caused by thiefs simplistic physics - your floating eyes (~upper part) and imaginary ass (~lower part) have separate collision models (~or something to that effect). While his eyes were above the plank - his ass was below. You can not jump out of that situation - afaik. Not the first time that happened to him - in the bone-bum-something (bonehord?) mission it happened too.

Hm, it happened to me often on the wooden beams in the RTC. But I guess they're thin enough so that when you jump the ass just slides through.

I don't know why Khad is cursing and angry about the developers while playing Thief. Sure, he got lost for a long time, but so did he while he was playing Penumbra, and in his Penumbra-vids he's actually playing really really good. :D
I really hope that Khad would some day play one of the fms and find out how awesome Thief can be :D

Yeah, after you learn how to deal with all these glitches and "features" of Dark Engine (mantling anyone? ladders have been mentioned enough times xd), Thief becomes a truly awesome game. Especially when you try some high-quality fan content.
Until then, suffer. :ebil:.
Recent video: only 18 minutes aaaand progress! Sort of. I hope this mission will be finished within next 2 parts though...

You're being sarcastic, right? Not that I think they're bad, but they're not exactly Thief: Deadly Loot Glint either.
And yeah, from what I remember, there's about three spheres where Garrett's feet are, which like to get stuck underneath thin surfaces. It's still poor level design though.
