Well, okay, I'm ambivalent on Pac-Man, but that's really only because it didn't have a protagonist I could root for, or any story justification for what it's about. Basically this obese dude who's practically all mouth goes around eating all the things in a labyrinth while ghosts randomly intersect his path and he tries to avoid them, but he can eat a special pill that lets him eat the ghosts but it lasts for only like 10 seconds? I mean, wtf. Was the creator really fat? Is this symbology for how you can eat your problems away? Only in Japan could this have been created and
not be inspired by a drug-induced fever dream.
Here you go, the story of Pac-Man explained for your convenience: (

This game is reminding me of Far Cry 3 a lot, in both what's great about it and it's shortcomings. Like FC3 it's a game I am having a great time with thanks to the stealth/action gameplay and the open world. Sadly, also like FC3 the story is pretty weak. One thing I'm finding really weird is how the protagonist's fame is handled. He's constantly concealing his identity, tampering with security cameras to blur his image, and hacking databases to keep his name off the records. Thing is though, when I'm walking down the street people are constantly saying stuff like "Hey isn't that that vigilante guy?". At one point I even saw a kid writing my name in a piece of grafitti. So seemingly everyone knows who Aiden Pierce is, and at the same time noone knows who this mystery hacker is.
Apparently Ubi responded to criticisms of FC3's poor story by getting rid of that writer and replacing him with... uh... the guy who wrote Lost: Via Domus and Avatar: The Game. You'd think that with the millions they throw at a game like this they could spend at least a little of it on getting a decent writer.
Anyway, I shouldn't judge the writing too harshly yet as I'm still quite early story-wise.
Mostly just clearing out gang hideouts and doing driving sidemissions at this point. At first the driving felt a bit rudimentary, but it's growing on me more and more. I'd say the car handling is somewhere in the neighbourhood of GTA V and Sleeping Dogs' cars. The bikes handle much like those in Burnout Paradise, except they're not quite as fast.

I should probably finish FC3 at some point.

I've been enjoying the Fixer and Gang Hideout sidemissions the most. The Criminal Convoy missions are so-so, but this one turned out so great I just had to save the footage. It captures a lot of what I love about the game. Forming a plan, executing it, and then having to make adjustments when things don't quite pan out the way you'd hoped. :)

Yeah, basically all of Ubi's massive budget games that don't carry the Tom Clancy branding have been homogenised into being Assassin's Creed.

I'm liking the soundtrack in this one. There's way too much punk rock and way too little blues, but the blues that is in there is very very nice, and also mostly stuff I hadn't heard before. Thankfully you can edit the soundtrack, so I've gone in and turned off most of the punk and rock songs. Doing so I was struck by how much my tastes has changed over the years. Me from 10 years ago would've been like "WHAT are you DOING?" if he'd seen me doing that. :p
Here's one of my faves:

There's some very nice (

Just did the bossfight against the gangbangers on the roof. Frustrating as hell. Not because it was particularly difficult, but because every time I died and had to reload I first had to listen to the villain deliver this whole goddamn unskippable speech again before getting back to the fighting. This is such a frustrating stupid slip-up because it'd be so easy to fix (just place the checkpoint after the chatterbox is done) and because Ubisoft really should know better by now. It's not like this is their first game. :tsktsk:

Apparently its full of faux pas like this. One of the reasons my interest went from 8 to 0.

Not really. I'm on Act 3 now and that's the first time I've run into a really boneheaded design decision.
There's been a few other things that's irked me, like sticky cover being too sticky, but those things I've gotten used to pretty fast.
