Prettier graphics don't make gameplay better.

No, but they can amplify the feeling of immersion in interesting game worlds.

They sure can but this is a marginal change and although it will make the game prettier it isn't really going to change much.
An entire graphical overhaul is one thing (and by that I mean one which makes a game more playable because it allows you to see what you're doing better), or an engine change (like the evolving Elder Scrolls series), but higher res textures and better effects don't change the game much.

As with all things, we'll have to wait and see. It can't hurt, that's for sure.

Someone should make a mod which lets you wear prescription glasses.

Heh yeah, to counteract the depth of field mod.
Anyway, I haven't touched WD since SpinTires came out, but the last time I played it I did have a lot of fun with the multiplayer stuff. There's ofcourse the Online Hacking mode, where you hack another player while he/she desperately tries to find you. But there's also another mode, called Online Tailing, where you enter another player's game, unbeknownst to them(as far as I can tell), and you have to observe them for a set amount of time without getting made. It's pretty thrilling, dropping in on another player and seeing what they're up to without them knowing you're there. One player I dropped in on was running around in the woods up near Pawnee shooting at everything in sight. Out in the woods hiding or staying inconspicuous was kinda tricky, and when he jumped in a car and sped off I couldn't find another vehicle fast enough to keep up. Another guy was involved in a police chase when I dropped in, and keeping up with him without getting caught up in the police action myself was kinda tricky, but doable. Playing this mode also made me wonder how often other players have entered my game and spied on me without my ever knowing. :sly:

That sounds really cool. I was just so put off by the negative stuff I heard and read straight after it was released. The Crate and Crowbar guys panned it and made it sound frustratingly inelegant. Up until then I was seriously going giving it thought.

Whatever became of the online feature whereby people could use a phone / tablet app to interact with other people's games? Was that just for consoles?
