Forget about cost. Why would you even spend the valuable time on the steaming pile of shit that Watch Dogs is?
Not to mention that the game has some issues with racist themes seeping into the storyline.

God forbid people wanting to play games and forming their own opinions, amirite?

Oh shit, better call the social justice police over at Kotaku!

I'll buy it and play it when I feel like I can justify adding more games to the pile, or if it becomes super cheap and adding it to the pile isn't a big whoop.

Don't equate me with Kotaku....they're a combination of click-baiting and astroturf internet activism. I doubt their editors even socialize with racial minorities.

Just finished Bad Blood. Here's a video of one of the stealthier missions:

Many of the missions force you into shootouts though, and those parts just aren't any fun. And the story is as crappy and dull as ever. Apparently my character is haunted by having inadvertently caused the deaths of 11 people, meanwhile I, the player, probably caused the death of just as many people driving across town just now, so, eh. The DLC comes with a ton of new sidemissions as well as introducing Co-op missions, and those are all great. The Season Pass is just 10 bucks on the PS4 Store right now, well worth the price of admission to anyone who wants more Watch Dogs!

Giving it a go now. It runs great on my budget GPU (750Ti). Wasn't this supposed to be poorly optimised? *shrug* Maybe a CPU-bound game? I do have 4GHz, 8 threads (i7-4790K). Either that or through lotsa patches + driver updates it's now optimised.

This game is great fun, but the invasion mechanics can f*ck right off. Time and time again I would closing in on a tricky to obtain collectable or about to start a side mission when suddenly the game wrestles control from me because some prick has invaded my game. I finally just disabled invasions altogether. Resetting of my XP and abilities gained from playing MP be damned, it's not worth putting up with poor man's Dark Souls MP.
The clearing gang hideouts is immense fun, not quite on the level of taking down outposts in Far Cry 3/4, but it's certainly cut from the same cloth. The story is uninspired and of pedestrian writing quality as you'd expect, but the actual story missions can offer interesting scenarios to play through. Anyway the fleshed out and immersive game world, the gameplay mechanics and side missions is where this game truly shines.
Watch Dogs set out to be an open-world urban game with its own unique twist and succeeds beautifully at that goal IMO. Worth the $50 NZD I paid in the Steam Xmas Sale? Yes.
So why exactly did people hate it? They over-hyped themselves to the point they were expecting it to cure for cancer? Bandwagon hating because of Downgradegate?
As I previously posted the optimisation is fantastic now. On my Geforce GTX 970 with a resolution of 1080p I'm getting 70-80+ fps average with all the bells and whistles turned on.

You don't remember the marketing campaign?
The reason why people hated it is because the way the game's "hacking" system was sold turned out to be blatant false advertising.

Nah, I've got better things to do than pay attention to PR fluff most of the time.
I went back and watched the original E3 2012 trailer. Aside from the graphics downgrade and a bit less dynamic combat, it's pretty representative of the final product.

Indeed, there really wasn't any hacking in those early trailers that was more in-depth than what you got in the game. It was all well integrated into the game and fun to use(except disabling helicopters, since you couldn't look straight up while driving), but somehow I think a lot of people convinced themselves they were gonna get Uplink-levels of complexity.
