Water Contest mission - Sneaking Through Venice Sept. 22/06 - by TheNightTerror

I have run out of places to go and I have zero objectives fulfilled. Thanks to the hint a few posts above I found the switch to open the secret area but that was a dead end. I even saved the game and tried activating the
obvious trap
but that put me in a place where I can't get out. What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Don

Don,
When you activate the trap, Negreto and two archers will appear in the next room from where you came. You have to get out of the water, kill Negreto and take his key.
Ah, thank you Naks. The ledge looked way too high to reach, but after half a dozen tries I was able to mantle up.
It was very un-thief-like
to require you to first get caught by an obvious trap and then fight your way out, particularly when the AIs just appeared from nowhere. Were they hiding in the crates? We don't know. I managed to KO one and kill the others without them seeing me, which was as thiefy as I could get for the situation.
I loved the architecture and music, though.
Probably the author didn't have enough time to make cut scene where you could see how Negreto and his guys come down using a ladder.:joke:
I just played this FM tonight.
I liked it, it has a wonderful setting,....... Venice at night. Cool. The music at the start is so nice,.........but it is a shame it dose not continue
throughout the rest of the game. :(
I did however find this FM quite tough,....... I would have liked Garrett to have had a few more weapons here. As there are some tough AI,s in this mission. A few more arrows at least.
Also, this FM crashed back to desktop on me a couple of times when I killed
a guard. I don't know why. ???. The third time,.... no problem. ???
I do know the author that made this FM, but, of course, I can't tell you.
All I will say is, this FM maker is a far better FM maker than me, but, then again, who isn't.
Given the size, and time limitations this author had, I think it was a good job.
I too would love to see a bigger version of this. Nice one. ;) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

For me that happened with the two archers with Negreto, if you kill or KO them, carry the body, and try to drop the body. The dropping action is when it crashed for me the first 3 times I tried it for both those AIs, but it never happened with any others (I couldn't test the crossbow woman as I couldn't get to her balcony).

Yes, that's when it happend to me Don.
It crashed twice at this point. I reloaded a third time, killed the archer again, but this time, no problems, everything worked fine.??? :D
I don't think we should blame the author here, as the author may have had to rush to get the mission finnished on time.
It is just DromEd. As a builder myself, I know what DromEd is like. :grr: :grr: .
In fact, my last mission, Sunset in Darkdale, had bugs in it too, but fortunately for me, no one has noticed them,......................yet.
( or maybe they have, but just not said anything ). :erm:
So, again, Sneaking through Venice author, a bigger version of this.
Pleeeeeeeease. :thumb:

You don't have to fight the three baddies at the end.
All you need to do is be able to get to the doorway without being seen - then, from the shadows, just make alot of noise to lure them over, lean forward, and Black Jack them - then you can simply chuck Negreto into the water! Just be careful not to pick up either of the archers, as it caused my game to crash.
I used that approach, and KO'd them all, and left them lying where they fell. The problem then, of course, was that I didn't realize
Negretto was one of them.
So, I proceeded to scour the map over and OVER looking for Negretto. :)

Agreed! This one gets a very high "Unique" rating from me. Expanding it would make it even better. Great job, author! :thumb:

The opening shot is so wonderfully unique, combined with the music, that it almost compensates for the smaller size of the rest of the level! I too would like to see a larger level with more of these touches included.
