Water with no "splash" sound. - by Lady Rowena

I don't know why I didn't notice it before. I have several basins/pools with water in my missions, and although they are wide enough to let me jump in, no splash soud is heard. I tought that it was due to bad roombrushing, but it's not the case.
I still can hear the splash sound if I jump into wider/deeper waters. Does it depends of the dimensions of the water brush, or am I missing something?

Are you using a flow brush?

I'm a water specialist! :D
So, two possibilities:
-You have not put your rooms correctly, but because you said that you have check it and saw that it isn't the problem, then, this is the second possibility.
-You have used a flood brush with a flow which is not put correctly.
When the flow is not put correctly, sometimes, you won't see Jorge but green or blue water. But it won't make any sounds.
The solution is simple: the flow works like objects, I mean if the middle of the flow is out of the world, the flow won't work.
Then, you MUST put little flow brushed in your flood brush, or a Huge flow that touch your flood brush, but it center may be at the surface of your water.
Like this:
[.......................]
[.......................]
[------------------]
[------------------]
----=Water
[]=Flow
......=Air surface
Hope that will help you ;)

As far as I know the center of the flow brush doesn't have to be at the surface, I've never heard of that or experienced it. However, the center of the flow brush must NOT be inside solid. (

Indeed, but if your flood brush have a complex shape, it is the best thing to do to be sure that your water will be affected. As a waterfall for example ;)

As usual, I forgot to explain some details. What is missing is only the splash sound that you usually hear when you jump/plunge into the water. All the rest is just fine. If I walk in the water I can hear the sound.
Also, there are no complex shapes, all cubes, no solid terrain in the centre, therefore no rocket science is needed to make a simple flowbrush. :D
Again, I suspect that it depends of the deepness of the water. Strangely I didn't notice it until now.
I'm working in a me only area with no water at the moment, but I will do some experiments and I will let you know.

That happens to me in Thief Gold, in Cragscleft. Once you reach the top level of the mine complex and get out into the open air. That water there has no splash sound.

I'm pretty sure that the sound upon entering or exiting water is only played when the water is of a certain depth, which would match your suspicion. That may have changed with NewDark, I'm not sure.

I agree. You need minimum 3-4 units depth.

I'm having a problem similar to this. I have a "canal": I laid down a fill solid brush 40x10x2 atop a "street" to create a berm, carved out a 40x8x10 fill air brush for the trench, and inside that a 40x8x6 fill water brush resting on the bottom. Both the open street level and the trench itself have room brushes which overlap by 0.2 ft. Then a flow brush larger overlapping and larger than the fill water brush by 0.1 in all 3 dimensions.
I hear the "splash" when I enter the water and I hear my movements in the water. But I don't hear a splash when I *exit* the water, nor do I hear a flowing water sound when standing outside the water at street level.
I've tried overlapping the brushes by more and less and it doesn't seem to fix it. I wonder if I am missing some Properties that need to be set on either the fill water brush or the flow brush, or possibly my fill air brush and fill water brush are redundant and I need to eliminate the fill air brush? Any ideas?
