I would love to see some weather effects implemented into Thief 4. I'm not talking about just ambient effects either. I would love to "look down" and see my cloak being whipped around in the wind. Another great effect would be rain. Imagine cruising the alleys or rooftops in the middle of a storm, the sounds of water splashing as you run through puddles. I'd love to see some snow too. :thumb:

What's funny is that your idea is not at all hard to implement in any modern game, but very few games (if any) have yet to do something like it! All it takes is a little extra work on their part.

Of course, that would be really neat (visually).

That would be a great addition and, like Syndef said, relatively easy to pull off.

Since T4 will probably be based on the TR Underworld engine it should be even simpler. In TRU Lara's appearance changes in rain or if she runs through some muddy environment. I'm not sure they have much wind effects though, apart from her hair. But that has been affected by wind since TR2 if I'm not mistaken.
What I think would be even cooler though, and this has been suggested many times before, is that the weather affects the players visibility, audibility (is that a word?) etc. Walking through a water puddle silently is usually rather tricky unless the water is so high you can keep your shoes under the surface at all time.
There are of course lots of other ways the weather could influence game play. Let's see what we can come up with that would actually enhance the game and not just make it annoying to play. Maybe the devs could have some use for that.

This is one of the things I think everyone agrees on and can really push the developers for. Some of the T2 fog was fantastic in fm's, with todays graphics, it could really really compliment the ambience. i'd love to break into a mansion with rain hammering on the windows.

I'll put this one here too. That rain portrayed in the upper picture was in Thief 2 in the year 2000. The exact same rain, with the addition of swaying trees was in Far Cry 2, in the year 2008. No progress in 8 years? I know that they're different companies, but that's just embarrassing. Real rain doesn't look like anything seen in any game so far.

The darker, more distant, rain in the second one looks quite nice but the light "distortion" is pretty sub-par. Still you make some good points.

Sub-par ? Considering he probably made both using ms paint, I'd say his example is pretty gorgeous and conveys the point perfectly.
