weird zombie... thing - by ganac

Crafty as I am, I try to use the overhead slash on a zombie in the middle of a big room or whatever, so I don't wake him later (I think it's more cost effective on your anti-undead supplies if you are dealing with a solitary zombie).
Anyway, I come back to that zombie later, and he is upright, unmoving in midstep, but stilll acts is if he were on the ground, i.e. growls, falls over, gets up, and commences attack.
I swear also, that these guys, these upright sleeping guys actually move to different places with out moving. I saw one, just sliding on his feet. Both in T1,G, and T2.
So basically, what's the deal with this?

Don't know, but I've seen it also. After you knock them down and leave, the zombies in the fan mission The Inverted Manse (excellent mission, by the way) stand up and start rising into the air. Come back and they're stuck in the roof above them. Yes, the dark engine is buggy as hell.

Never seen that one before. It's like the doors to the tomb in the graveyard in T2, when you open them they fly away into the sky.
Man i love the dark engine.

You're basically looking at an 'undocumented feature' of the dark engine, kind of like how objects become immortal and begin 'skating' when you are a certain distance away from them. Just one of those wierd things, right up there with the aforementioned 'flying doors'.

In T2X one 'sleeping' zombie actually managed to float onto an iron fence. (

In T2X mission "The Cure" knocked-down zombies would fly through the hallway (btw. this obviously has nothing to do with the creators of T2X). It seems to me that they only start floating when you load a saved game.

Now the bloody galaxy bug - that's a truly rare one.

Galaxy bug? You mean when all the blood swirls around and whatnot?

Once in a while some doors in Thief 1 will rotate on a huge axis and end up in another room, also in Thief 2 some doors never become visible again after entering partially into a wall.

Flying doors that disappear due to a huge axis of rotation,
zombies that move without walking,
Garrett spontaneously dropping dead due to too much resolution,
the oblivious ranting of Builder's Children that don't exist,
assorted AI's that get too spun up to ever calm down,
an Ape beast who when hit in the face with the blackjack gets stuck laughing and admonishing you to 'try again manfool!'
countless enemies who get stuck on top of furniture,
or take such bad shots as to kill their allies,
or follow you underwater to their deaths,
I've seen it all.
No wonder I'm so into the game.

I like that one. Free arrow!
But what about the ape and the builders children?
