Hello everyone, since i'm newly registered i figured i'd introduce myself. I have been devoted Thief fan ever since the first TDP demo came out, and i have played trough all the games, more than once... (much, much more than once :))
I have been lurking these forums from time to time, but was reluctant to try any fan missions because i am normally against sloppily done modding projects or fan levels for any game.. That is, until i actually played one! I am now hooked on good FMs and actually want to give Dromed a try myself..
I decided to register an account because this seems to be the busiest Thief community in existence and i want to be a part of it. I can be of use to FM designers as a story writer, beta tester (seriously i have an uncanny ability to find obscure little mistakes and climb on things i'm not supposed to), spell checker for the documents, concept artist/texturer and possibly other thins once i familiarize myself with Dromed.
Cheers to everyone!

Hello there,
Grab yourself a beer, pull up a seat and get comfortable!

Glad you decided to give fan missions a try. As a general rule we do good work around here. Welcome aboard.

I'd say! I was skeptical at first, since i have such a keen eye for detail and i doubted that the level design complexity and atmosphere of the original games could be approximated. It turns out some FMs have even surpassed the original levels, their only "flaw" being non-cannon in the Thief universe..
I am one of those taffers that have had Thief themed dreams, and sometimes deliberately walks in the shadows at night.. So yes even though I'm new here I think I'd fit right in :)
Macha, I spent a month in the UK last fall. I'd say an ale would be just right! Old Speckled Hen or good ol' Guiness... Have one yourself!

Welcome.
I tend to think that most FMs are at the OM level, and it's quite common for an FM to be much better than an OM. I am a little biased, maybe...

I'd go so far as to say that 75% of fan missions being released nowadays are above and beyond the quality of the originals save for voice acting. I guess it makes sense that they would be - folks spend years building their missions that the original missions creators didnt have.
After playing missions like Pirates Ahoy, Broken Triad, Night In Rocksbourg, Heist Society, The Ashen Age, The Seven Sisters, Rowena's Curse, Mystic Gems, Night Falcon, A Love Story and on and on.. its hard for me to go back to playing the original missions. Its good for the nostalgia factor for me, but the missions just look so blocky and low res that I don't enjoy them much anymore.

Welcome to TTLG, you have much to do, and much to learn about FM's! Sounds like you are on your way. There are many many many good FM's you need to play. Too many to name, enjoy your stay. :)
